Flat calm seas and little wind made it more of a motor sail! But beautiful regardless.
I did not prepare for this trip like I should have. I haven’t gotten seasick since November 2023, so I decided not to take a Bonine or wear my Reliefband! Mistake. I was ill for two days, but at the end of day two we had an amazing whale encounter. We saw something off to starboard, but couldn’t tell what it was. Bill ran below to get his camera, I started my video on my phone. When the first whale spouted, I was amazed. But it didn’t stop there. Four sets of hump backed whales were surrounding our boat. They came within 500 yards of the boat. Tails up and down, and one even breached! I will be in awe of this beautiful experience for the rest of my life! Videos tomorrow!
Singing in the rain. So fun!!
Some days are just perfect. This was one. I could have sailed to the end of the world, but I do love Annapolis!
We had hoped for fair winds, but we did not have them. Lots of motor sailing. Bonus: the attack of the biting flies. They are also resistant to repellants. The only solution was boots, long pants and long sleeves! We did end up having sundowners at the most beautiful anchorage with a gorgeous sunset.
There was a little bit of everything on this super hot trip! Bill is amazing and can handle anything! I am lucky to be his first mate and learn from him!
