Currently not tracking
The sea is calling, but Elayna Carausu isn't tracking right now. Come back later!
La Vagabonde
Bahamas
9 years of living at sea π
We actually were pumping this trip and Elayna got us going over 20knots at one point. Very fun and exciting sail with a quick stop in Rota which was unbelievable!!! What a magical place.
What a fun sail. Days like this make me so grateful Riley steered us toward performance sailing. I love my boat!! π©΅
Left one of the more beautiful anchorages weβve seen in a while. It was blowing 18 then 16 then 14 on a beam swinging aft made for a sporting morning and a relaxing afternoon. Leaving early and arriving 60nm away shortly after midday is one of the reasons I love this vessel. Morale onboard is just excellent despite the challenges with living aboard on top of kids and some seriously anchoring unfriendly islands. Love my life π«Άππ
After a miscommunication about a potential meeting with the mayor of the island and sailing our OC tender in the beautiful blue inland lake we decided to head to Saipan basically because we had run out of food. Not the main staples but a bunch of things to make like easier with the kids. When we arrived we forgot to bring our phones and wallets to shore which is always a good indicator that weβre back in βCrusing Modeβ again. Lenny spent a lot of time at the helm and it was a very smooth sail.
Cannot wait to get some sleep so we can truly appreciate this natural beauty!!
Another 400NM + down π©΅. Pulling into Maug tomorrow morning.. itβs an island made up of the remnants of a submerged volcanic caldera!! Canβt wait to see it. Itβs been a rough few days at sea, very strange weather. Flew the drone in the rough weather and Westβs hand copped it when catching it π
This place is unreal.. whales, massive wahoo, and breathtaking landscapes everywhere we turn π₯²
Day 2 of our passage to the southern islands of Japan! So far so good. Weβre all really tired today but spirits are still high. The water is starting to get deeeeep π€―
La Vagabonde and her crew just nailed our first big passage of the season.. couldnβt be happier! Off to hunt down some sake in this picture perfect little town to celebrate ππΆπ₯³ max speed was 20.4 knots btw!
Weβve never seen so many people on our crew list lol go checkout our new crew members on my profile π₯Ήπ©΅ we feel so lucky to get to spend the next few months with them!
Four seasons in one day.. gusty and squally, but spirits were high! One last stop in Osaka before we sail away from the mainland and into the open sea π
First sail of the season.. here we go! π₯² Weβre setting off to pick up our four new crew members before heading further offshore toward Micronesia. Itβs been a smooth start, though weβve been beating upwind all day but weβre NOT COMPLAINING lol so happy to be here βοΈβοΈ
Whoβs new here today from our latest hour long YouTube video? Welcome aboard! Weβre reading your comments from our beautiful mountain top apartment.. it feels surreal being here π going to give snowboarding another crack. So yeah weβve made another quick escape from the boatyard as they prep to paint our fairing. And with just two weeks until we set sail, the countdown is officially on!
A couple weeks from setting sail you guys! And we have enough freeze dried food to last us an entire year π
Checkout this kook! π Making progress you guys! Iβm already completely obsessed.. and the kids adore the snow. Whereβs the best place youβve spent a ski season?
Weβre hauling out La Vagabonde soon to kick off the repairs.. but for now, weβre making the most of our time in Japan π―π΅ with Rileyβs dad and step mum! Tokyo Disneyland exceeded all expectations (it was seriously awesome?!! Darwin still doesnβt know how to feel about the rides clearly hahahaha), and tomorrowβ¦ weβll finally hit the slopes for some snowboardingπ
A new season begins! Welcome home π *(Lenny is teary because we are leaving the boat in a few days to go to the mountains and he βjust wants to stay on the boatβ π₯Ήπ₯Ή)
Weβve officially transitioned from life on the boat to this beautiful cabin as we gear up to start the boat repairs soon π. Hereβs a little glimpse into what life has looked like lately. How are you guys?? Tell me things x
At 2am as we were sleeping, a fishing vessel ran into us.. head on. The noise was so loud, and the impact sent glasses smashing and clothes flying out of cupboards. It shook us up in more ways than one π’ππ. Thankfully, no one was injured. Not the video we wanted to make, but Friday 5pm EST you can watch the full story on YouTube. Thanks for all of your love and support recently guys!! Really does feel like we have one giant family out there x
We were headed out of the Seto Inland sea, when it happened. The days leading up to the crash were so spooky. Weβre SO glad Ellie wasnβt sleeping in the area, when the fishing vessel hit us. The thought sends a shiver up my spine. Iβve been thinking a lot about intuition.. and how torn I am when it comes to trusting it. With Riley being such a science driven guy, I often find myself leaning into logic and evidence over gut feelings. But then, something like this happens, and it leaves me questioning EVERYTHING. Is there another layer to life that we canβt yet measure? Can messages truly be sent to us in ways we donβt fully understand? In this case, I canβt help but feel that little voice.. the one I dismissed.. was literally warning me about what was about to happen. It was! The second the fishing boat collided with us, the first thing I said in my head was βI knew itβ. That honestly scared me more than the crash itself. It makes me really wonder.. how often do we overlook these whispers of intuition, writing them off as coincidence or overthinking? What do you think? Is intuition just another piece of the puzzle we donβt fully understand yet? β¨ Or is it just our subconscious piecing things togetherβ¦ and every now and then, a wild coincidence lines up so perfectly that it feels like something more?
Hey everyone! Just a quick update to let you know that weβre all safe and doing well β€οΈ. Weβre taking a little time off the boat to plan our next steps and make some needed repairs. The boat accident video is scheduled to release next Thursday, the 21st, and weβll be sharing some photos here too. Love you all! Thank you for being part of this amazing, giant SeaPeople family x
Tried to get a cute family pic but failed lol. Lovely day on the water x
Made it to Tokyo!! What a beautiful city.. Having a SeaPeople meetup tonight, if youβre in Tokyo check the hail for more details π―π΅β‘οΈ
Left the boat docked for the week, whilst we explore some cities inland π₯² weβre also celebrating a very successful first week after app launch! Cannot believe weβve had 50K downloads of SeaPeople!!?And it really is just the beginning. Weβre doing it you guys π©΅π©΅. Thank you so much for being here fam x
Hooning towards Osaka π₯²
The Naruto Strait was nuts. Right up on the list of worlds most strongest currents π€ͺ
These two π. Just a little day on anchor here, fishing with the boys. Sailing to Osaka tomorrow in this cold front. Shall be interesting..
Yesterday was fun. Tacking upwind π€ͺ. I stood by the mainsheet for most the day as the gusts came and we dodged sea container ships here in the inland sea. Youβve gotta stick Japan on your cruising list π―π΅ weβre loving it here.
Spending the whole week celebrating SeaPeople in video, over on YT π₯³ with our Japan daily vlog series. Your response has been INSANE you guys.. Riley and I are just sitting in a tiny port in Japan watching everything thatβs going on and weβre in disbelief. Thank you thank you thank you! Setting sail again this afternoon (of course, weβll be tracking so stay tuned), weβre headed to Tokyo in the next 2 weeks. Will any of you be around Japan this winter? You know where to find us π©΅
To everyone whoβs just joined SeaPeople, welcome!! Drop us a comment where youβre from? (Although, I can see you on explore map πππ)
Happy to be here, but would also love to be at the Annapolis Boat Show right now. For all of you going, donβt forget to join the SeaPeople Documentary premiere on Sunday, 5:30pm! In the YB Seminar Tent. First in first served. And then youβll be join us after for a live Q&A session!! We canβt wait to see you there π©΅ (other founders in person, us on zoom) Big, exciting week ahead for SeaPeople you guyyyyyys. Thank you for being here for the very start of it x
A bit smelly, busy and with a lot of current but we made it into the Seto Inland Sea π₯³π₯³
We had to move quickly, to avoid the incoming typhoon π. Riley and Kai are currently remounting the engine after we hit a line, which caused a sudden jolt to the propeller and prop shaft.. straining the engine and bending the mounts. The mounts were already in poor shape having rusted.. since our shakedown cruise when the THEN new engine flooded with saltwater due to an improperly installed exhaust pipe ππ
Yβall need to get your butts to Japan for a sailing season. This place is unreal π₯² This is Yakushima!
About to explore Amami. Looks insane!
Just cleared the island and weβre finally picking up speed now. Just started doing 11-13 knots in 13-15 knots of wind with the code 0 up. Wonβt drop anchor in Amami till well after the sun has set, but it feels good to be moving again! Island hopping towards the inland sea for better protection from the typhoons. Okinawa was delightful. The people, the food, nature π€―
We made it you guys. Champagne sailing for the remains of our passage! Checked into Japan this morning without any (big) dramas. The customs officials were so welcoming and lovely.. Keeping an eye on the weather and hopefully thereβs nothing huge brewing in the next week, so we can stay, and see Okinawa in all its glory π³π π¬
