After a relaxing night in the quiet marina Uitdam we waked up to much more wind and rain. After two beautiful days the Indian summer was over. We untied the lines and everything went well leaving the marina with this kind of wind. we decided to only roll out genoa. It was really close hauled sailing and the gusts were quite strong. After two hours we were safely moored back in Marina Muiderzand.
A really nice and relaxing sail from the old village Volendam to Uitdam. It is such nice weather for October. Light winds but just enough to sail and sunny skies 👌🏼 Uitdam is a really quiet place but super nice to relax.
It started with a downwind sail around 7 knots of wind then the wind almost completely died on us and we motor sailed for a bit 🤷🏻♀️ Suddenly the wind came back and we shut off the engine and searched for the wind. We can see on the water surface where there was wind so that was a lot of fun. On the water we saw some friends from the marina. Pura Vida with Fieke, Ronald and Vita sailed along with them. They had also the plan to sail to Enkhuizen, but because there was not a lot of wind we decided to go to Volendam instead of arriving in the dark in Enkhuizen. Pura Vida also decided not to sail to Enkhuizen and texted our plan is also changed, see you in Volendam. After arriving we had some drinks together with Pura Vida. Later Hans and I went for dinner at Lotje.
Plan was to go through the staande mast route to Zeeland. What exactly happend was me being really sick 🤧🤒 and the weather wasn’t good. We had a lot of wind and rain and we decided in Dordrecht to go back along the route and think out of the box and look for small protective places for the bad weather. Turns out greater then we thought 🤩⛵️ After all we had a great time together and saw different things along the route. Three weeks, a lot of bridges, rain, wind, coughing and a little bit of sunshine and anchoring. But we enjoyed! Total bridges: 39 x 2 (forward and back) Total locks: 3 x 2 (forward and back) The average speed isn’t correct: But due to al the waiting for bridges it is that slow.
This weekend our little dream came true, seeing the Northern Lights from our own sailboat. And that in the Netherlands, we even didn’t have to sail north. Just wow 🤩
We had an amazing weekend at anchor just around the corner of our home port! Boats involved: ISail, Turningpoint, Hjemme and Amazone ⛵️ BBQ, drinks and fun! Oh and had my first swim this season in 14 degrees 🥶
Moving day today. Officially a live aboard again 😁⛵️ Cheers to the new season!
Super easy, light winds and good temperatures. When we arrived we first take a swim. And after our refreshing swim we had some dinghy rides and said Hi to our friends on anchor Turningpoint and Maon. Average speed was: 3 knots Wind speed was 8 knots Temperature: 27 degrees
