SV Interlude
Marquette Michigan
Been sailing the great lakes my whole life but now finally setting off for the salt! Cruising from Lake Superior to the Bahamas on our Legend 37.5
Back home to our fresh water ocean. Missed mother Superior more than I knew I could. Can't wait for the ice to break and get back on the water.
Who would have thought de-commissioning a boat was almost as hard as the dang refit! SV Interlude is going up for sail! Listing will be live soon! Here's to the next adventure! Edit: we're not quitting sailing just looking at getting a different boat!
The last little push to Green Cove to haul out for the season and head home and go back to work :( Was an amazing season with over 4000nm since September!
Just another nice day in the Florida ICW! Made it to our favorite little free dock at sunset.
Another hard day making way north. Started the day out with some storms and a tornado warning! Got a good wash with the rain. I knew this would be a grind but didn't realize how cold it would be as we got away from the Gulf stream. Currently boat shopping for something with a pilot house lol Captain Gooey always has your back tho!
Missing all our wonderful boat friends a little extra today as we continue our way north. Got to do some ICW sailing which I love. Thinking of all the wonderful people we met in the Bahamas this season and can't wait to see everyone again soon in paradise! Shout out Young Cruisers Association! YCA for Life!
Was another great Gulf crossing and made great time! Got a little bumpy at the end with some wind shifting against the current but otherwise uneventful which is always a good thing offshore. Nice Mahi to cap off the day right as the sun was setting.
Was a hard sail upwind to get north to stage for a Gulf stream crossing home back to the US of A. Took quite a beating upwind for most of the trip and come about 8 hours to go our old autopilot finally gave up the ghost. We saw another great view of the launch and re-entry of a space X flight as well as some beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Felt like I was back offshore racing in the great lakes.
Left Fresh Creek after meeting the CO of the AUTEC Naval Base who is an avid fisherman and hooked me up (no pun intended) with some new gear for Wahoo! We quickly got into them as we made our way up the coast. My first Wahoo and a nice Mahi for the dinner! Was an amazing champagne sail all afternoon.
Was a nice sail up the coast with a really nice tail current. North to Fresh Creek from Lesbon Creek after a couple days exploring the flats and putting quite a few miles on the tender. Andros definitely didn't disappoint with the wildlife and the fishing!
Was a great day sailing from Wardrick to Andros! We are super excited to check out Andros and all the natural beauty. The sail was a little crazy at the end with the swells and current picking up fast as we got closer to shore. Excited to be in the creek for the nights cold front.
Beautiful sail back north to stage for a trip to Andros!
Space X launch and land party was a huge success! Thanks to all the Sea People that came out to witness history!
Thinking about doing a little beach fire Space X launch and land party. There is a nice rock island with some sand and protection for viewing the landing on the Sound side. Right above Little Majors where the pin is set. Launch is **(UPDATED)** at 6:15 pm TUESDAY Let me know if your in! Should be pretty cool with the booms from reentry and the proximity to the landing barge.
Great sail back south to Big Majors after a fantastic couple days with some amazing people. Miss everyone already but excited to see everyone again!
Beautiful day with the most beautiful sail we have had in a long time.
Day sail south to Pipe Cay, title speaks for itself π
Was a beautiful sail from little current to Allen's Cay. Excited to finally be in the exumas and for all the upcoming fun! Also got a PR red snapper on the shotgun line while sailing which was a big surprise!
Was an amazing champagne sail overnight to Little Egg. Making our way back south after some fun in hopetown at the Abacos Cruisers Regatta and chillin with Young Cruisers gang. Excited to keep heading south to the Exumas!
Was a bit of a sporty day of racing with full reefs. Lost a solar panel mid race but was able to finish and place thanks to some quick action duct tape. Tons of fun out in the a Abaco sea with fellow cruisers on a gusty day.
Was a beautiful downwind sail all the way to Hopetown harbor. Winds were really boosting on the way in and the first day of racing the Abacos Regatta was cancelled for good reason. We were full reefed downwind the whole way into Hopetown. Excited to be in hopetown and get some rest before tomorrows racing.
Was a very sporty sail up the coast. Had huge waves and conflicting wind which made it a challenging sail all by hand. Made it into North Bar Channel with huge crashing waves on both sides were we finally found some refuge from the chop. Next stop hopetown for the @youngcrusiers regatta! (Running a little behind due to weather)
Was another beautiful day in the Bahamas. Took advantage of another day of favorable conditions to get closer to the Abacos to make it to the Young Cruisers Association Regatta. Even got some fish for dinner, though the sharks did also.
Wasn't the best conditions at all. Got our a$$ kicked for 24 hours in some of the worst head on chop swell ever. Killers of speed and morale this was one of the most challenging sails yet. The Grand Bank is no joke! But we're not fair weather sailors and have places to be! (Wouldn't have gone, lesson learned)
