Wrapping up our Mallorca adventure at this stunning spot—what a perfect way to end the journey!
We just wrapped up an incredible sail from Port Vell, Barcelona to a gorgeous anchorage in Mallorca. Calm seas, sunny skies, and dolphins everywhere—what more could you ask for? Mr. Gidget suited up in his new sailor outfit for the occasion (video proof attached!). Safe to say he’s settling into boat life just fine. Tomorrow we’ll be pulling into Palma, then setting sail for Ibiza with friends. Can’t wait to see what adventures lie ahead!
Looking for CREW – Adventure Awaits Aboard SV Gidget! Dates: May 5 – May 24, 2025 Departing: Barcelona, Spain Arriving: Near La Spezia, Italy (Exact location TBD) We’re looking for adventurous, easy-going crew to join us aboard SY Gidget, a 12.55m catamaran, for an unforgettable sailing journey from Barcelona to the Italian coast. About the Boat: • 3 cabins, 3 showers, 3 toilets • Crew accommodation: private cabin with ensuite bathroom • Fully equipped: generator, solar, watermaker, heater & A/C • Comfortable, spacious, and set up for adventure About Us: - Captain: Chris Burylo - Chief Mate: Michelle Burylo - Quartermaster : Mr.Gidget • We’re experienced skippers who love life on the water—exploring, creating, and sharing the journey. • We have a relaxed, fun atmosphere onboard and recently started a YouTube channel to document the ride. • Important Note: We travel with Mr. Gidget, our small dog and the real captain of the boat—so being dog-friendly is a must! Crew Role: • This is a non-paid position • Contribution to daily tasks is expected • Must be comfortable sharing costs (food, fuel, marinas, etc.) • Flights/travel to/from the boat not included Ideal Crew: • Adventurous, positive, and respectful of shared living spaces • Sailing experience and/or mechanical skills are a huge plus • Must be a team player and ready to help navigate whatever challenges come our way • Bonus if you’re into videography or editing—creative content skills are very welcome! Today was a mix of breathtaking views and heartbreak. We sailed past the stunning coastal town of Peñíscola, with its medieval castle rising above the sea—a truly magical sight. But not all moments at sea are picture-perfect… our drone had a rough day, getting tangled in the lifelines before taking a plunge into the deep. Farewell, little drone—you captured some amazing memories before your unexpected swim. Onward to new adventures (and a new drone)!
Whew! That was a long haul. Mr. Gidget seemed to have a good time. But, I’m ready for bed!
A quick sail, but, with some crazy winds coming in tonight we wanted a safe cove to hunker down in.
We spent the last few days at anchor, getting caught up on a few personal things and doing some video editing for our next YouTube video. Then, today, continued to make our way Eastward along the French Riviera. Wind was light for most of the trip, but the scenery was gorgeous! We plan to make it to Nice for Xmas.
That’s it! We’ve left the boat yard - no more adult supervision! Michelle and I are free to make our own f* ups! And, to enjoy the pride of each successful passage. We have arrived at Port Porquerolles - and, we’re very excited to continue to explore the French Riviera.
We just purchased a brand new catamaran - a Bali Catspace. This is our first boat and today we took it out for its very first sail! We have big plans to take ‘Gidget’ away for long term cruising. So, today was just a test run. Light winds today allowed us to dust off some sailing cobwebs, and for us to try out some of the boat systems. We wanted to make sure that everything was working and that we know how to use it all. Stay tuned! Lots more sails to come.
