We have owned and sailed our Nonsuch 30 classic for 14 years on Lake Ontario. We cruise the 1000 Islands and around the lake. On friend’s boats I have crewed/ sailed the St Lawrence River to Montreal, coast of Nova Scotia from Cape Breton to Gloucester Mass, this year St Martin to Nassau. We have bareboat chartered in the BVI, Tahiti and I just participated in the Odyssey Sailing Festival Greece! Four years ago I started ‘Women on the Water ‘ at Ashbridges Bay Yacht Club to help mentor women sailing and racing. Crazy about sailing and pottery! alisonbrannenceramics.com
Small group of dedicated Nonsuch owners met at Olcott for good conversation, food, drinks and music. Saturday our flotilla headed to Youngstown Yacht Club for margaritas and fine dining overlooking the fabulous sunset. Sunday we motored up the Niagara River to Lewiston rafting up in groups of 3 boats and drifting down with the current 3.5 knots swirling gently we easily kept offshore with forward and reverse engines on the outside boats. ( just like a catamaran! ) Super fun afternoon swimming tied to the boats and enjoying new friendships. A few of us stayed that evening and enjoyed a local blues band at the pub. Light winds and moderate chop crossing back home.
Epic week of sailing with a bunch of crazy YouTube captains! Sporty winds day 1 then moderate conditions and flat water in the Saronic Gulf to Aegina. Super social rafting up at the base of the cliff on Agistri. Then first time med mooring in Poros. Very cool Rented e-bikes. Anchored off Dokos for “Cruisers Olympics Water Games” Hydra, Moni and back to Alimos. Best vacation. Learned lots and made good friends.
Crew with Nina and John on “Sunkissed “ their Island Packet 40. Rolling seas, squalls, overnight passages , anchored in Boqueron and Puerto Real waiting on a weather window to cross Mona Passage. Biggest waves north of Turks and Caicos. Sunkissed tracking well on autopilot. Anchored Mayaguana then Exuma bank flat water and perfect sailing! Watching for balmies into Nassau. Epic trip thanks John and Nina!
Fabulous week ! Joined a flotilla from the ABYC Yacht club for our first bareboat charter around the BVI.
