First annual Cruisers Regatta

Super fun day out with a couple of short races around the cans for the first annual Cruisers Regatta! ⛵️💨 We got line honors in both races and had a blast sailing with friends. Thanks to all those that helped organize the regatta! Note - Not sure why the avg speed is so low 🤷‍♂️

We made it back to the Abaco Islands!

A slow and bumpy trip up from Turks & Caicos but WE MADE IT - and damn does it feel good. This culminates my first Atlantic crossing as skipper from the Outremer factory in La Grande Motte, France at the start of November, to here in the Abaco Islands via Gibraltar, Lagos, Las Palmas, St Lucia, Antigua, St Martin, Saba, the BVI and T&C’s with 6,110.6 nautical miles of fun on the water. I am very tired but very happy ❤️⛵️

Under a thousand miles to go, the sargasso seaweed is filling in and we can almost taste the beer (and rum) in St Lucia! We broke the cable on our gennaker but one of the crew brought his parasail, it’s working nicely!

The ARC - Wind has filled in

The wind has filled in but brought a crappy sea state for now, hoping it sorts itself out soon. Some great sailing up until now though with dreamy gennaker days. Now we’re down to 2nd reef and full jib, bouncing around. Still some good speeds, 19.2 the top so far!

ARC Rally ‘24

We made it! The wind was a bit light in the beginning and then built to a sloppy sea state for the rest of the trip but we still had a blast. The boat performed well and the crew was amazing. We were last minute entrants to the ARC but it was a cool addition to the trip - the social atmosphere was nice. Now I’m happy to be enjoying some time in St Lucia now before heading up to the Abaco Islands again for the season.

Lagos to Las Palmas - Joining the ARC

We were delayed leaving Lagos, where we took cover from a strong low pressure system, and ended up having a pretty dreamy sail down to Las Palmas. Some light winds and messy seas in the beginning sorted themselves out and finished with an epic power reach with the North Code 55. Some spicy weather caught us on the last night but we made it in one piece! Happy days :)

Incredible trip with an incredible crew. Mix of light and perfect winds, 1 fish, top speed of 18.2 knots at 1am coming into Gibraltar. Falmari was screaming along so smooth. Happy days! Next stop Canaries then Atlantic.

First trip on the new Outremer

Our first trip out of France on the new Outremer! Some fun sailing, some testing and troubleshooting before some big sails coming up in the coming months. Such a fun boat to sail! The highlight was when we had an upwind slog from Blanes, north of Barcelona, to Mallorca which we absolutely smashed at 8.5-11 knots, dead on course on a close reach. Mallorca is beautiful and I’m looking forward to exploring more in the future!

We had a blast on our second Croatian flotilla exploring the islands of Northern Dalmatia. The Kornati National Park and Telašćica National Park are full of stunning landscapes, we can’t wait to go back! Some of the group checked out the beautiful waterfalls of Krka National Park on the last day too. All in all, we had an amazing week on the water and can’t wait for our next flotilla in Greece in September! We love bringing together people from around the world to share the joy of sailing 🫶⛵️🇭🇷

Volvo 65 delivery - Lavrio to Monfalcone

Volvo 65, ‘Sisi’, from Austrian Ocean Racing, delivery. Sadly upwind the whoooole way so no 30kt top speeds. We beat the whole way up the Adriatic, which made this beer definitely taste all the better. The final night we had to punch through a wild storm front, reefing in 45 knots. All good in the end with some small damage. Super happy we didn’t get struck by lightning, one of the wildest light shows I have ever seen. Looking forward to a downwind/reaching send on this boat one day in the future!

Aegean 600 Yacht Race *retired*

Uff another tough Aegean 600. Onboard an Outremer 4X catamaran, we abandoned the race with almost half the fleet after running out of wind too many times and not being able to finish within the cut off time. Racing in the Mediterranean is super difficult, with 45 knots straight into zero knots… maddening. We’re just happy to make it back safe and sound after a fatality during the race. Much respect to everyone who made it around, and our thoughts go out to the sailor who didn’t make it.

BVI - Charleston

Sick trip! Heaps of light winds but pretty favorable in general, and some sick sends. 24.2 top speed and hours spent 17-22kts on a beam reach. Ready to get back on performance/cruising cats though, I need some comfort in my life. Using a real head rather than hanging my butt over the side at 16kts will be a real treat!
