A couple 29yr olds from Michigan and PA! After living out west the last 6 years, my boyfriend and I moved back to Florida and bought our first sailboat SunGem. We plan to spend the next few years cruising the Bahamas & Caribbean. Always down for diving, spearfishing, yoga, surfing, hiking, scuba, or anything else ocean related. Excited to connected with fellow cruisers along the way!

Today’s journey just about sums up sailing! Started off with some sunrise motoring along the coast of Vieques and it was beautiful. As soon as we rounded the bend we hoisted the main sail and our boom vang immediately broke… no big deal, we’ll just motor and make some water. Turned on the water maker and it immediately stopped working 😂 Motored all the way to St John’s and we have the anchorage all to ourselves. Safe to say, it’s a beautiful spot to do some repairs tomorrow 🤪
Quick hop to do some fishing in the mangroves. No fish were caught but we did see some spotted eagle rays 😍
Caja de Muertos was absolutely beautiful and we wish we had more time to spend there! A lighthouse on the hill overlooking the ocean, an old abandoned resort and hiking trails through the hill.
An uneventful crossing! The Mona Passage was surprisingly mellow. We caught a barracuda, a mackerel and A TON of sargassum. The locals welcomed us right outside of Puerto Real 🐬
Spent most of the time dodging lightning and rain storms… only got caught in a few. A little bit of sailing, a whole lot of motoring. The coast of the DR is insanely beautiful. Sunrise this morning was top notch. Planning to be here for at least a week. Time for some much-needed rest 😴
36 hours of beating into the wind and waves. Slow moving that’s for sure. Onward to south Caicos tomorrow!
