Sea people hail for beach fire in Georgetown 🙌🏼 got to finally meet some online friends, and make some new ones 🔥🤙🏼⛵️

Today was a day i’ll remember forever!! Woke up to a text from my friend Reagan asking if i wanted to buddy boat over to Long Island. Of course I said yes and immediately started getting the boat ready to go, after being anchored in Georgetown for 1.5 weeks it was a process lol. Grace my boat buddy had to fly out for a couple weeks so i’ve been on my own but haven’t sailed up until this point because my mom was visiting and weather wasn’t great. I motored out of the harbour and once out over the ledge I dropped in two lines trolling a couple different loud squids hoping to heighten the stoke and land something big… spoiler alert I caught nothing again.. 🥲 I put up the main sail which was a little stressful to do alone for the first time but I got it up and sailed away! The halyard on the jib snapped on our last sail and we haven’t climbed up to fix it so the main is all I had for this trip. I was getting 2.5-3kts in about 6-10 kts of wind.. not sure if that’s “good” or not but I felt like a million bucks 🙌🏼 As I was sailing along just looking out in the deep blue Bahamian waters it was such a surreal moment that I was out there doing it. This trip has lit the fire for me, this may have been my first sail but it definitely won’t be my last. I have SO much to learn but i’m so excited to continue on this journey- this is just the beginning ⛵️ Once I arrived to Long Island, I was in awe at how beautiful the water is. I’d say the most beautiful i’ve seen so far. There’s big cliffs just around the cove, great coral heads, lots of big fish, tons of marine life, tasty conch fritters at the local happy hour, lots of flats (hopefully some bonefish👀), and fantastic weather so far. Excited to see what else this trip brings 🌊🩷🏄‍♀️🌸

Left this morning at slack tide to go out the cut it was uneventful. Pretty rolly all day. Went out a little to the deeper water and trolled 2 poles the whole way and switched lures- nothing. Our luck has not been great in fishing department. Would love for anyone to chime in on some tips or hotspots in georgetown or nearby. (ik ik no one will give their honey holes away but maybe steer us in the right direction lol… i promise i wont tell 😂) Made it an anchored up with the other hundred boats around us but shallow and on the far end. Will probably stay here for the blow the next couple days 🙌🏼🌊 I was wave jumping on the bow and watching the video back is very humbling cause i felt like i was flying 😂😂

Woke up this morning & went to get on the dinghy to take hadley mae to shore and we had a suprise visitor. Scared the bejeezus out of me as he swam right up to my leg as i was stepping in. He hung around all morning- the yachts behind us were chumming the water all night so i’m sure he’s used to getting a free meal here often. We left for another long day south- had some light rain for about 30 mins and that was it. Got to Rat Cay right before sunset and anchored up- it was glassy we were sitting on chain until we went to bed. We were awakened around 2 am by howling wind and the boat swinging . Had some unpredicted 30+ kt winds & lightning storm kick through. Had a cute little beach but parts were very rocky to get to shore while others sandy and easily accessible.

We left Norman’s Cay this morning in an attempt to make it as close to Georgetown as possible before the blow this weekend. But not before diving the plane wreck!!! It was so cool. Grace is flying out of Georgetown on the 3rd so we’ve got to make it down there by at least then. Todays cruise was pretty uneventful- i cleaned out the oil from the motor compartment this morning and don’t have toooo much more from todays ride. We’re still unsure exactly what’s going on there 😅😅 We made it to Staniel Cay where we anchored up near two super yachts- as we were cooking dinner their tender came over to tell us we were anchored right on top/near their anchor and they were leaving so we stayed up waiting for them to leave so we could move the boat a little bit for them. oopsiessss. We will be waking up tomorrow and getting right back to another long day😴

Left Nassau this morning after a fun packed few days! I really enjoyed it contrary to everyone’s opinions on stopping there. We had good wind this morning threw up the sails and boom the halyard on the jib snapped. We are unsure what fully happened and had a long day ahead so we put the sail away and continued on with the main. It was pretty choppy and cloudy all day but we made it across the yellow bank. We also had a coolant/oil leak but topped that off and continued on again and will check in with that tomorrow. besides all that we had a good day and finally made it to the Exumas! Ready to start adventuring down here and hopefully meeting more cruisers!

We left our little anchorage on the west end of Nassau to head to the east side of the island. I personally loved this anchorage. The water was gorgeous. It was away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. Visibility distance was very far. The Ocean Atlas statue is a short dinghy ride away and a super cool dive/snorkel! There’s also waves to surf- i saw them but assumed there were a lot of rocks/coral but a local said they are surfable.. maybe for someone with a little more experience 😅 Soooo many starfish here too. We left and went around the north side and entered the harbor. You must radio and be granted permission to enter the harbor but it was super easy to navigate and a couple anchorages right in the harbor. They’re good holding but obviously it’s a super busy place so you’re constantly rocking from all the wakes from tour boats and they do not slow down through the anchorage- but it’s not terrible. Just a short dingy ride to the pig beach, a dingy dock, atlantis, margaritaville, straw market, rose island. etc etc etc.

We left little harbour early this morning and went out ocean side to head towards Nassau. Boy the waves were big but the period was so far apart so they weren’t terrible except for the fact they were hitting us on the side so lots of rolly back and forth. I trolled the entire way with 2 different squid and didn’t get anything. The cruise itself is a pretty straightforward path. We saw a few other “Sea Peoplers” and passed right by them- we were able to tell from live tracking! That was super fun. We anchored on the west end of the island and it was so calm and quiet. The water was stunning.

We left Hoffmans Cay and headed down to Little Harbor. We anchored just outside the cut, once e got close Jay came out on the dinghy offering to help us navigate to the inside of the island. We stayed on the outside since it was just for the night. The sail down was simple but there are a lot of shallow areas. We dinghied into Chester’s restaurant the “Flos Conch Shack” we called the day prior for a group of about 15 of us and made a “reservation”. He was super welcoming, the water is gorgeous, tons of turtles, lots of conch shells!

Moved over a cove for the blow coming in. Still not a ton of protection, she’s getting a little rolly. I’m kinda excited to experience some “rolliness” 🤣 I’ll check back after to see if the vibes are still as high LOL EDIT: it wasn’t bad at all. Anchor held fine and got some wind and rain which was nice.

We took the back side which gets very shallow but we knew we could make it as it’s the same way we came in. We towed the dinghy for the first time and that went well. Had issues with autopilot and recalibrated it and seems to be doing a little better. This was my favorite little spot yet! Blue hole cliff jumping, pretty beach, gorgeous water, a fun little swing and campfires with friends 🩷

We left the marina this morning to anchor out just outside the cut. Grace did some dinghy exploring while I stayed back to get caught up on some work and rest. Let’s hope she comes back with some dinner 🐟🎣 We loved Great Harbour Cay Marina- it was a super easy entrance/exit, slips are wide, facilities are up to date and clean, there’s onsight charter fishing, complimentary bike rentals, a restaurant (we had grouper fingers & wings with the “pink sauce”), laundry, ice, immigration/customs, and more! I went for a run this morning and got lost and forgot to download a map before hand so my easy mile run turned into 5 😅 It was gorgeous though- small village, airport and cool views. $2 a foot for slip, $.50 a gallon for water, and also per kwh for electricity which we didn’t need. We plan on staying in this anchorage another day then heading south? who knows… it changes everyday! 🌞🌊🌸

We left our safety cove of Whale Cay this morning after hiding from the blow the past 2 nights. It was a super smooth ride, gorgeous weather, sunny & 75 babbyyyy 🌞 We came the “back way” lol ran aground ever so softly in about 2.5 ft of water- pulled up the rudders and drive leg and then carried on. Bless our 18inch draft 🙌🏼😅 We arrived at Great Harbour Cay Marina to officially clear in since we were unable to due to the weather. Grace went in to do all the paperwork- we didn’t do any of it before hand… but it all went smoothly. Plus we had our first dolphin tag along today 🐬🐬🐬 Hadley Mae is SUPER stoked to be back on shore and set the record for worlds longest pee 🐶 we still need to work on the grass pad thing…. We plan on staying for a night and then getting to all the fun stuff 🎉

Well… we didn’t get as lucky with this one as our crossing but we made it! The first several hours out of bimini were GORGEOUS!! We originally planned to head towards andros and get in an anchorage for the weather. However, the weather changed slightly and we determined that wasn’t gonna have any protection so we searched and found whale cay which should have some protection from north winds…. Slightly naive? maybe. but we are researching, consulting, learning and trying our best. This weather coming in will be a good test.. good thing our drafts 18 inches 😅 We tucked away in between bird cay and whale cay just about as far as you can get before cat cay. Waves are significantly smaller than about 100 yards out in 10-15ft of water. We’re in about 5 up here. There was another catamaran when we arrived which gave us a good sign, although they promptly left so don’t know what that means LOL. We are confident and hopeful in this spot and will be on high alert through the night and day tomorrow. Windy app said 2ft waves while we were cruising yet they were consistently breaking on bow throughout the night, thankfully they got slightly better this morning. Anyways, another long cruise in the books and really loving adding the miles to our books ⛵️🫶🏻 Everyday we are learning more and more it’s so much fun!

Happy Women’s day! 🌸🫶🏻⛵️ What better way than doing our first ever crossing! Just the three of us girls (yes Hadley Mae is included🐶) We are so excited to start exploring the bahamas and getting some miles under our belts!

What a PERFECT crossing. We waited it out and were definitely rewarded. This was my first ever crossing and first ever sail! ⛵️ Super calm seas, ever so bumpy every now and then. Passed 5-6 cruise ships/cargos. So stoked to finally be here! okay now time for bed 😴😴

Today was A DAY. We began to have issues while motoring along with our engine just dying. After multiple tries we came to the conclusion that it must be our fuel filters- given our boat has been sitting for 3 years on the hard it made sense. We anchored up and grace went to shore to walk 4 miles round trip to the west marine. After fooling around with fuel filters all day and test driving around we came to the new conclusion that our fuel tank switches are set backwards and we never had a fuel filter issue…. just an empty fuel tank 😅😅. We plan to take off tomorrow bright and early and make it to the boynton harbor marina at open to fill our tanks. What can we say… live & learn LOL.

Day 2! We left our anchorage this morning and cruised down the ICW. A bridge was malfunctioning so we were forced to go out the Jupiter inlet into the ocean for the first time and thankfully we had the perfect weather! It was so much fun. we stopped just outside the palm beach inlet to jump in for our first swim off of her and then we cruised down to the Lantana bridge and anchored just outside it for the evening.

This was our first ever cruise on Sadie after sitting on the hard for three years! It was a great first day to learn- locks, bridges, running aground 😅, and anchoring. Great and eventful first day can’t wait to keep on treking south!
