Just waiting to go into the marina… Update: made it into the marina with only a small dent in the fiberglass. Cannot lie I am embarrassed for life (it wasn’t even my fault and I couldn’t have done anything better but I’m a perfectionist so still upset at myself).

The swell during the first have of the day got on my nerves and so did the very rolly spot our friends picked for lunch. But after a little power nap we had a gorgeous sail back to the spot we got shelter from the storm in a few days ago…
Had a very chill day, swell has decided not to leave us despite the lack of wind, so this sail was a bit nauseating, but we saw dolphins upon arrival to the anchorage, so very happy!
Did most of this under sail. Very peaceful. Crowded anchorage on arrival but feeling more confident in close quarters situations now so all ggg 😃
This was nice. Had a friend onboard and let him take the helm. Towed the kids on a fender and they enjoyed it… feeling goood 😊

Looking for a calmer anchorage but we have so little chainnnn 🥲 so we are stopping for a swim and will head back later today…
One to remember!! My first time actually being the most experienced person on a boat. Like actually the CAPTAIN. Was I terrified the entire time? Yes. Did I do a good job at hiding it? I think so. Did I want to throw up by the end? Yes. Was it the stress or the 2m beam-on swell? We’ll never know. Lessons from today: don’t underestimate the light breeze when coming out of a berth. Was so focused on the sharp turn out I didn’t go hard enough and the 60 deg wind blew me straight into the anchors of the boats across… made it out mostly unscathed (aside from my ego). Stayed calm and kept the nerves to myself, which i am pretty proud of. Forever life goal is to be a calm and confident skipper. Rest of the day was all good despite pretty gross conditions, heavy swell and no wind on the tiniest cruiser I’ve ever been on. But we anchored beautifully and now looking forward to getting rocked to sleep :)) One challenge closer to being the captain of my own boat ❤️

Day two served up sunshine and serenity with just a whisper of wind – enough for a mix of sailing, motor sailing, and good ol’ iron jib (aka motoring when the breeze bails). We made our way to the charming Santa Marina Salina, one of the prettiest little ports you could dream of. While gliding over calm waters, Dan whipped up some next-level wraps stacked with Italian cold cuts and deli goodies… honestly, a magic combo. Nothing beats munching gourmet bites while the sea sparkles all around you. We rolled into Salina around 4pm, dropped anchor, and wandered into town. Dinner was a riot – Porto Bello was buzzing with our whole flotilla crew laughing, joking, and probably scaring off the quieter diners… oops. The food was unreal though – pistachio-crusted swordfish and amberjack that melted in your mouth. The night didn’t stop there… we took the party downstairs, dancing and grooving ’til midnight. Salina, you beauty.

The adventure kicked off with four boats and 42 absolute legends – mostly mates, mostly sailors, and all ready for a top week in Sicily. We’re on a gorgeous Oceanis 51 this time around, and spirits were sky-high from the get-go. Picked up the boat from Marina di Portorosa in Tonnarella and slipped lines just after 1pm. The weather gods were kind, serving up a beautiful 12-knot breeze – perfect for a cruisy sail towards the dreamy Lipari Islands. Sails up, tunes on, and just good vibes all ’round. We dropped anchor off Lipari where the water was crystal clear, warm as a hug, and too tempting to resist… everyone dove in for a splash. Sun, sea, and (of course) a healthy amount of drinks followed. Perrine took dinner to the next level with a veggie pasta that blew everyone’s socks off – might’ve converted a few meat lovers, too. Bellissimo.
So dang happy to be here!!!! A girl is out of practice though oof 😅
After a day on block island, we managed to obtain a new impeller and fix the engine. Headed back out in very flat conditions and motored all the way to Newport. FREEZING breeze but just so good to be out on the water 🫶 Boat: Peacemaker ker11.5
She’s back on the water!!!! This was a super lovely day of sailing but ended in a very near catastrophe. Lost our engine and decided to pull into port of refuge for shelter at night… let’s just say the situation was very poorly handled— I learn more and more every day about the kind of skipper I DON’T want to become. Thankfully we are safe and the boat didn’t get too damaged, but I had to set some very clear boundaries for the second part of the trip. On the bright side, I diagnosed and fixed the engine issue pretty much by myself, so very pumped about that!! Women in sailing >>>>>
My final sail for now… back to city living for a bit. It don’t worry, I’ll be back ❤️
Last day onboard. Screaming crying throwing up. I don’t want to go home… Anyways sailed off the mooring and into this anchorage. Time for one last dive 🫧

Update: I did see sharks during the dive… and the current was craaazy so we burnt through the air pretty quick. But it was still a very cool wreck. And this was a stunning sail. Now at customs and immigration to check out, heading to the USVI tmrw :)

We made boat friends and sailed here with them!! I napped for most of the day because they came over for dinner yesterday and stayed until midnight. Which is very very late for me now. I am a boat life grandma.

This was my 5th time sailing between English harbour and jolly harbour lol… very nice to be back on MoVi. Feels like home 🥹💌

Big passage small boat!! A few people were sick, we lost our dinghy, and got our mooring stolen as we arrived but other than that this was fun, happy to be back in Guadeloupe! TWS: 25 knots Sail plan: 2nd reef main and jib Swell: 1-2m
Slipped alongside and then went into the marina stern to! It was scary but very happy to have finally done it :)) also this is where we slept last night and then did a 3hr sail at 6am to get to English harbour only to be told we were sailing back to here 😭 TWS: 15-20knots Sail plan: first reef main, jib on spin pole in wing and wing setup, then normal setup on a beam reach towards jolly harbour.
