Voila
Brooklyn, NYC
We are Loren & Herve former NYC fine dining chefs. We’re recently retired and have been coastal cruising for the last 10 years in Maine, New England & The Long Island Sound. We’re currently living aboard headed south via the ICW to the Bahamas. We cook farm to table to French cuisine, all in the galley of our Bristol 38.8 sailboat. We love hiking, adventuring and getting off the beaten path. Come say hi / Bonjour and have a French press coffee with us. See you on the water. Loren & Herve xo 💚
10 years + 10 months living on Voila = a lifetime of change. What started as a dream is now officially a reality. It’s been 10 years in the making and now 10 months living full time on our sailboat. We traveled over 2400 + nautical miles from Maine to the Bahamas to get here. We officially cleared customs a few weeks ago into 🇧🇸 with Voila entering her 1st foreign county. We couldn’t be happier to arrive here and living our dream💚
Cruising from west palm beach to Lucaya Freeport Bahama, then to Great Harbor the Berries, to Hoffman cay the Blue Hole, then to Spanish wells, the glass Bridge, and onwards to rock sound Eleuthera to Wardrick wells the Exumas.
Nice and easy motor sailing with Jib only.
Aperitif tonight💚 “ Grenadine Mocktail Spritz”
We woke up with a moon lit sky at dawn and cast off the lines. We had 2 glorious weeks in Annapolis meeting, like-minded sailors, and getting voilà ready for our voyage south. We were ready to say goodbye, but before we could leave this ideal spot in spa creek, we needed to make sure the drawbridge was lifted. We called for an opening and the bridge keeper was the nicest. We had a 15k -20k down wind sail with 2-3’ seas and a reefed main. We tucked past Solomon’s Island into St John’s Creek for a perfectly calm peaceful anchorage. Feeling blessed.
Hi All, we’re currently anchored in Spa Creek, here in Annapolis. Just a big congrats to the entire team of @seapeople for making this App possible. Thx you all so much for helping to support the cruising community.
First time living aboard full time. Many stops along the way for medical in NYC (2 weeks) and family and friends visits. Annapolis boat show for 2 fun weeks. Meeting so many sailors and learning every day. Next leg of the trip Charleston. See you on the water. With 💚Loren + Herve
Lobster buoys, enchanted maine forests, getting lost in the islands of Penobscot bay, beach clean ups at kimbell island off the coast of isle of Ho, onwards south to Rockland, Monhegan Island, booth bay, the Saco river, isle of Shauls, Gloucester and further south to schiutuate and then thru the the cape cod canal to Cutty hunk our favorite island !!! Onwards to orient, with an overnight moonlight passage to north fork Long Island and then to Glen cove, and into nyc via the gut to Brooklyn. Sunrise sail out of Brooklyn to cape may, NJ arriving 36 hours later due to beating the wind and 3-5’ seas in our nose. The Delaware bay was hot and very buggy with tons of flies!!! Finally through the c & D canal to the Chesapeake bay which was delightful. Sassafras river, whye river, hortons creek, st Michael’s, the Maryland yacht club, Corsica and the Chester river / to finally arrive to Annapolis for the boat show, cruisers u and enjoying one of our favorite community anchorages in spa creek. Oh sailing, living free and having all of these adventures !!! Onwards 💚
