We’re going to call this day “poops and oopps”. A day that will live on in our memories for the day where all three of us + Oz the sailboat were not feeling great. I won’t speak for the other ladies but I myself managed to get a stomach bug from the night before … or maybe was it the excessive drinking at the beach party we went to land for ?? Anyways. The day started pretty awful for me and my stomach at 4am. We all managed to sleep in by accident which shortened our chances of getting as far as we wanted to on a long sail day. About 45 mins into our motor out of harbour we noticed that the exhaust was letting out more steam then normal despite the cooler morning and waters. Thus began the 1.5 hr long motor shut off “sail”/drift with the foresail up at .5knts while Elle and Jules triaged the situation below - while I above continued to experience stomach issues. After calling family and friends for advice and opinions we deemed the steam to be not enough of an issue to stop our day all together, and started the motor back up, put the foresail away and continue on at a lower rpm. 3 humpbacks were spotted breaching along route. We pulled into a relatively busy Ballet bay, set down anchor in a muddy/ sandy bottom and kept an eye on our swing as this bay deals with both wind and current that can push you in different directions through out the evening. We made a yummy dinner of carbonara, enjoyed the sunset, and went to bed early as we all felt completely depleted by all our individual health woews and combined boat exhaustion.
