Departed Cape Eleuthera for the Exumas this morning with the wind behind us, so I anticipated following seas. I did NOT account for how the swell might be wrapping up and around the cape, so the first 30 minutes had us rocking till we got farther from the shelf. Had just the Code 0 out and were cruising pretty nicely around 6.5-7kn. I strategically set our course to get us straight into Highbourne without having to take anymore swell on our beam…until the trolling rod started screaming, then the other one started screaming, so we had to fall off to slow the boat down. Doubled up on Mahi!!! Talon was napping so Janie took one rod and I took the other. By time we got them both in the boat we had gotten pretty off course, so we doused the code and bucked into the wind for about 10 minutes till we got around the corner. Very solid morning 👌🏻
