Started a bit rough with a discovery that winds can shift 180 degrees around headlands, but once we untwisted ourselves and the wind filled in we had several hours of doing 8s and 9s. Felt great to actually use the black flappy bits. Even if the sail had not have been as great, the whales made the day. Saw a mom and baby flapping around near the start and then another family practicing their jumps. Probably saw 20 whales in the first few hours. Definitely made the upwind sailing that much more enjoyable
