At last I'm off the unpredictable Pacific Northwest coast with its challenges of weather and bar crossings. It's been a strange few weeks but made the most of it as best I could. Hoping to spend a couple more weeks in the Puget Sound before heading back to Seattle and a visit to the boat yard.

Neah Bay in sight

Sep 2, 2025 5:00 PM

West Entrance to the Strait of Juan de Fuca is flat calm this morning and Neah Bay is just ahead. Looking forward to silencing the engine and having some lunch at anchor ⚓. It's been weeks since the boat was anchored instead of docked.

Still calm out here and only the occasional fishing boat. Warm and sunny for now. Reading some science fiction to pass the time. These overnight runs can get a bit monotonous but a lack of drama is always a good thing.

Goodbye Astoria

Got a good weather window to move north to Neah Bay from Astoria Oregon. So far, nice calm seas for a change. No wind of course but that's okay because it would be on the nose if there were. Another overnight run and I will be off the coast.
