It’s not every day a French Marines rescue plane radios you to alter course and pick up your friends from their shipwrecked home. As luck would have it, we both left the same night headed for the Tuamotus (us from Eiao, them from Nuku Hiva). Come the following morning, we hear a rescue plane calling the name of a boat of fellow friends, and as the one-sided conversation unfolded, it was obvious they were in need of help. Thankfully, we were only 30 miles behind and were able to slightly alter course to swing by and pick them up just 11 hours after their incident occurred.
