Day 66-67 Portoferraio - Piombino

With the weather forecast in mind, we decided to spend one night at anchor in Portoferraio (Elba Island) and the following two nights moored in the marina. Just as we finished docking, the sky unleashed a storm…heavy rain flooded the town, with streets and shops underwater and cars submerged. On board, we barely noticed the heavy rain… until we saw mud and debris floating in the harbor. It was only through the news, the web, and messages from friends checking on us that we realized the extent of what had happened. After another day of unstable weather, we set sail for Piombino, where we finally reunited with our sailing boat Dreamcatcher.
