After two nights in the ICW emergency windless anchorage without an engine, we finally got a light breeze in the afternoon and set sail heading further north. As we exited Adam’s Creek we were reaching across the Neuse River at 9 knots in flat seas and 19 knots of wind on the beam! It was an awesome short sail! We anchored outside of the jetty east of the Oriental, NC channel markers for the night. It was probably the second rolliest night I’ve spent on Avemar in the four years I’ve lived aboard. I can’t believe that it’s a marked anchorage on AquaMap. Even with a north wind there were still 2 foot rollers all night long. At sunrise the next morning, we set sail for a 700 yard trip behind the jetty in the yacht basin channel.
