Postremo
Yorkies Knob
Tommy and Fi. On our Passport 41 Postremo. Postremo is latin for finally, at last. Very appropriate. Cairns based, but currently on our way back to Cairns! We have done a fair bit of land based travel around Australia with lots of remote camping. Now time to take on the next adventure that will hopefully take us around the world. Check us out on insta 'roamingtheyonder'. Link is below.

Left Sudbury after a swim. Was a really nice sail home with 10 to 15 on the beam. Flew back. Super lucky to have the Great Barrier Reef as my back yard!
Overnight trip from Cairns out to Sudbury Sand Cay. Wind was on the nose the whole way, so we motored for a while. Snorkelling straight off the boat, and will go for a morning spear fish to see if we can take some fish home. Top spot and beautiful reef around the Cay. Prefect overnighter
On our way back. Ended up having to motor home because we left Low Islets late. Wind was on the nose the whole way! Caught a couple of fish, and enjoyed the spectacular North Queensland view.
Just a quick overnight trip up the coast! Had a really nice sail and even flew our spinnaker for the first time. It has taken us a while to get the spinnaker up. Just through not really knowing what to do. Did some research, and today, we got it flying! And it was awesome. Wish I had done it sooner!
Headed out for a quick overnighter from Cairns. As always the weather prediction was a fair way off. Once we got out to the island, the anchorage looked a little too rolly! Luckily we just turned around and headed back. Turned out to be a great little Sunday sail!
Last little bit to get us all home. Feels good to have our boat in Cairns. Now, the real adventures can begin. Had a great little sail from Fitzroy Island to the Knob. Went snorkelling, and it was really good along the rocks to Nudey Beach! Way better than I expected and its right off the beach. Well worth the stop and so close to home. This brings our adventure North to an end. But we have so much exploring to do yet!
Today, we had another long motor sail from Dunk Island to Fitzroy Island. The wind filled in, in the afternoon and allowed to get a little bit of sailing in. Which was nice after a couple of days of motoring. Fitzroy Island is a beautiful spot. Grabbed a free mooring ball and can see the bottom in 9m of water. It was also nice to grab a burger from Foxys Bar for dinner. Well worth the stop.
Took a couple of days to get from Magnetic Island to Dunk Island in Far North Queensland. We had very light conditions which had meant a lot of motoring, which is not ideal but sometimes a necessary evil. After leaving Maggie, we headed to the Palm Group and stopped off Orepheus Island. Caught a great Spanish Mackeral off the island just before we grabbed a mooring ball. We had a mixture of wind v tide here, which ended up with the mooring ball somehow ending up wedged between the hull and prop shaft. Not wrapped, at least. It was not the best job in the early morning in crocodile country. We had another day of light condition to Dunk Island. This is a really great spot to anchor, and they are opening a new food and beverage venue very soon. It is just getting the finishing touches as we were there. Highly recommend!
Well, once again the weather forecast was way off. 10kts predicted. However, up until the last 2 hours, I think the strongest gust we had was about 5kts. Anyway, a day of motoring got us to Magnetic Island for a break before we keep heading North. Well and truely in the tropics now and love it!
