Currently not tracking
The sea is calling, but Phoebe Whitbeck isn't tracking right now. Come back later!
Bella
Wrightsville Beach, NC
Charter captain and wannabe cruiser, currently living aboard a 44’ cat, Bella. She and I spend summers in Wrightsville Beach, NC and winters in the USVI. I’ve had the goal of sailing around the world since I was a little kid…My parents circumnavigated before I was born, and I grew up on their adventurous stories of sailing! Thus, my only life plans are to work on boats until I can buy my own!

Another light wind day, but we were FAST! Finished 3rd in the first race and won the second (and last) race, boosting us up to 4th place overall. The whole weekend was just so much fun—sailing in a beautiful place, noticing our improvements together as crew, and feeling part of this racing community again :)
Day 2 of westerns! Tough first race but got 4th in the second race and finished just in time before the last bit of wind completely vanished. Took a nice tow in :)
Wohooo today was fun! Raced two good races with a great skipper and crew. Got a lotta new bruises and blisters but it’s all part of it!
Someone asked my dad and I to race his boat (a Sonar) for him today, so we had a nice little family cruise! I jumped on after racing E’s in the morning, and we munched some hummus sandwiches before the start to fuel our first place finish 😎 Very light and shifty day.
JP’s skipper took us out on a Sabre 38 to test out a new mainsail and just fun sail around the bay. It was such a good afternoon! Forgot to start tracking till halfway through the sail :/ Saw otters, seals, and sea lions! And he let me take her into the slip!
Drew and I took a little Colgate 26 out for a fun sail around the bay!
Ending my very last charter on sweet Bella!
Spent the morning exploring Bald Head Island by golf cart, then left the marina and sailed out the inlet. Beautiful conditions for a nice relaxing sail. Turned around and came on in to anchor for the night.
Day one of my last little charter on Bella! Got some lovely repeat customers onboard for a 2 night trip.
Fullll circle indeed! Two seasons of WB-USVI complete. Felt pretty wild bringing Bella back in the inlet to Wrightsville today. And with 3 other young crew with me! Also multiple dolphin visits this morning!! We made incredible time for the first 36 hours - beautiful 18kt winds that pushed us along at 8-10kts. Thennn it died, but the glassy calm ocean was beautiful in its own way. Ate good food, played lots of hangman, slapped each other with tortillas, and journaled a lot. Gotta have a good mix of laughs and introspection out there. I also got to explore some new spots in the Bahamas this time around - the beautiful Abacos! Our final anchorage before this leg was my favorite for sure. Moraine Cay was definitely the best way to end my island season.
