We bought a sailboat had no clue we were going to do Americas Great Loop but here we are🤘🏼 Follow along on instagram @cruisincasa
Today was exhausting, early morning to catch a bridge, then work, then provisioning run to Walmart and back to Novinka so we can get to Echo Bay tomorrow. Bright side we are getting fish and chips tomorrow!!!
Another short cruise to another beautiful anchorage! This area is amazing you only need to move like 8 miles and you end up in a beautiful spot🤘🏼 Can’t wait to hang out in a nice spot for the weekend!
Today’s journey was more about the destination and the dinghy adventure than the actually cruise. We found a nice little bay to put the hook down and then got in the dinghy and went for a 11 mile ride. We found an awesome rock with a very sketchy diving board. This is what summer is made of! After being in the marina for nearly two weeks for Haley to fly to a wedding and waiting in rigging parts we finally got tired of waiting and left 😂 when we put the masts back up we ended up getting three of the swageless stud gauled in the turnbuckle so that is the part we are waiting on. Was a beautiful cruise from midland to Shotgun bay, full of very narrow channels, countless rocks and stunning landscapes. Time to enjoy a Canadian summer 🤘🏼
Bucket list item: Big Chute ✅ aka boat roller coaster. Check out how it works on our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMGxrhLsCuk/?igsh=MWk5ZTJpYzF0dm1qMw==
A perfect first day on the Georgian Bay, wind was blowing and all the sailboats were out sailing. (Very jealous as we still have no masts) Short day today and it was nice little intro into the rocks that are everywhere!! The markers are going to be our best friends! Found a great anchorage with a beautiful beach that has our name written all over it after work.
Every time we spoke with a local and let them know we are going to the Georgian Bay they always said every mile we go it would be more beautiful than the last. And they are 1000% correct. Winding through Canadas cottage country is absolutely stunning, with small cottages and massive mansions littering the shoreline. You’ll never believe it but our boat went on a roller coaster up over the road and down to the next lake. Today marks the end of the Trent Severn for us and this was a tough section of the loop. Working full time jobs and cruising makes it hard but then adding in locks that are only open from 9-5:30pm makes it absolutely brutal😂 15 days straight since leaving the US to get to the Georgian Bay.
Everyday while cruising is an adventure and that’s what today was. Starts with a tight channel going side by side with 50ft boats and ends with trying to anchor in a lake that is 5ft of slit?? We backed down on the anchor and just tiled the lake for about 200m. I’ve never had to pick up an anchor more heavy than the times we tried today. But this lake is stunning, the water is clear and you can see the bottom in 12ft of water. Even days when things go wrong it’s still a better day than staying at home🤘🏼 Thank goodness there was a marina and a brewery because a cold one has been earned!
Another looooooong day on the Trent. Left Bobcaygeon at 7am and got to Fenellon falls by 9 to get work done. They also had an amazing coffee shop right next to the lock🤘🏼 Witnessed an absolutely massive boat come through the lock today was bit wild that they made it in. Also, went down the most narrow stretch of canal I’ve ever seen. It was at max 30ft wide and we ended up having to pass port to port with two other large vessels. This stretch was not for the weak because there was a lot of places that things could have gone wrong. Onto to Orilla in the morning 🤘🏼 6 locks to go baby!!!
