SV Interlude
Marquette Michigan
Been sailing the great lakes my whole life but now finally setting off for the salt! Cruising from Lake Superior to the Bahamas on our Legend 37.5
Woke up to some heavy fog which delayed our start time an hour. Wind was a little strong by the time we made it out of the bay. 4 to 5 footers and 25 kn gusts made for a hard day at the tiller. Happy to be home safe after a crazy day offshore in lake Superior.
Had a beautiful day sailing to Grand Island from Marquette. Was joined by Matt and Michelle on Dawn Threader to meet up with 4 other boats in Murray Bay for a weekend of fun and relaxation!
A very slow but very nice night fishing up north.
New Boat day!!!! Meet Trillium! She is a 74 Sparkman and Stevens design Tartan 34c. She was a barn find I couldn't walk away from. An untouched freshwater only, near perfect 70s Tartan with original everything! I can't wait to restore her to perfect condition just like when she came off the cradle in Columbus Ohio in 74. Welcome home!
Finally got a race off after a bunch of switching around and got a 2nd place finish on a shorten course!
Morning run out to standard rock was a bit to choppy so hit a day on the shore and got a nice harvest. 20 plus salmon and 2 lake trout. Great day on lake Superior!
Had a fun first day out with a full crew knocking off the cobwebs. A little cold and light but a fun excuse to be out sailing!
Launch day for Neko and a short shake down. Exited to race this year with fleet 35 in Marquette!
Great day out on the water for the South Shore Fishing Association Spring Shootout! Water was a little cold but got on some good fish mid morning after a slow start. Managed to get a big laker which got us a win in the trout category and got 4th overall out of 20 boats.
First run of the season exploring new spots searching for early season fish. Got into some nice Brown Trout and Coho Salmon despite the water temps still being in the mid 30s. Super excited to be back out on the water back home in Lake Superior!
Back home to our fresh water ocean. Missed mother Superior more than I knew I could. Can't wait for the ice to break and get back on the water.
Who would have thought de-commissioning a boat was almost as hard as the dang refit! SV Interlude is going up for sail! Listing will be live soon! Here's to the next adventure! Edit: we're not quitting sailing just looking at getting a different boat!
The last little push to Green Cove to haul out for the season and head home and go back to work :( Was an amazing season with over 4000nm since September!
Just another nice day in the Florida ICW! Made it to our favorite little free dock at sunset.
Another hard day making way north. Started the day out with some storms and a tornado warning! Got a good wash with the rain. I knew this would be a grind but didn't realize how cold it would be as we got away from the Gulf stream. Currently boat shopping for something with a pilot house lol Captain Gooey always has your back tho!
Missing all our wonderful boat friends a little extra today as we continue our way north. Got to do some ICW sailing which I love. Thinking of all the wonderful people we met in the Bahamas this season and can't wait to see everyone again soon in paradise! Shout out Young Cruisers Association! YCA for Life!
