Kelsey's first catch! Kelsey has joined me on every daily dive for fish or shellfish, but today she got her first catch. A couple minutes after she got this lobster the biggest bull shark we've ever seen appeared from the darkness to see what was going on.

Great sail with the Asymmetrical Spinnaker, Jib and Main out. Boat speed matching wind speed. Then a sketchy shallow route through sand banks to the Cay.

Time for a new island and new exploring.

If you have to wait on weather you might as well go hunting for dinner.

Good eating. We saw and picked up our first Carribean King Crab and nabbed a grey Snapper while we were at it.

We had a nice sail out of Marsh Harbor after provisioning. While ripping along at 9.5 knots we had our jib sheet block snap. Found a spot to anchor and made repairs. Kelsey spliced an endless dyneema loop to use as the anchor point and off we went. We anchored at the beach club and found an old fiberglass batten to use in our sail bag. (We had to poach ours to put in the sail a couple weeks ago)

It's been another great year. It's a blur from Vietnam to Baja to throwing out low offers on boats, to getting one accepted, to driving cross country and moving aboard, sailing to New York, heading back west to work in Wyoming and Oregon, back to the Chesapeake Bay and now onward to the Bahamas. We can't imagine what next year will hold. Happy New Year!! 🥂🔱

We lost a couple fish trawling, but made up for it with the spear and gloves. We speared a lionfish and picked up five nice lobster. 🤤

Great sail to the Bahamas. Had to tack a couple times, but otherwise we had some perfect wind to sail over. No other boats headed out from West Palm with us so we were worried we'd chosen poorly. Glad we trusted our gut and went for it. It's wild to think that we've arrived to our first new country via boat. Sixty something countries together since we hit the road, but the boat chapter is going to be epic.

I'm a sailor, I sail... Happy Holidays! The best present was our new sails arriving. We made a quick sail to West Palm to stage to finally leave the USA. Can't wait! We hope you had a great Festivus! To a great 2025! 🍻🥂

We're not watching friends head to the Bahamas with any envy or jealousy at all. 🥲 Hopefully we head that way in a couple weeks! 😁🤙

Preventers rigged to prevent an accidental jibe and we surfed down waves directly down wind.

After some delays to a bridge opening this morning we motor sailed until the wind picked up. Then we snapped a line for our mainsail and fixed it after a couple hours. Then we broke our furler as we put the job away. 🥲

We were ripping for most of the sail. 6 to 9 and even saw 10 for a bit. Then the wind died and we motored the last 15 miles into Cape Canaveral.

A nice light wind sail. Now we figure out if Hurricane Sara is going to chase us back North.

Back in action!

Treasure hunt! Found the missing arm up against the heat exchanger. Good times! The impeller was only 4 months old. 😬

A mellow overnight passage until the wind went to 30 knots sustained with gusts to 35. We got the sails down, a couple reefs in and we're moving quick. Twenty minutes later it was all gone and we sailed at 4.5 knots with full sails the rest of the way to make it to Cumberland Island with the sunrise.

Great sail except for a loose raw water pump belt. New belt, new alternator belt for shits and giggles and we're ready to go tomorrow. ⛵

Charleston is a great city, but after a few days we're always most happy to be remote. Thanks to another Sea Person for letting us know about this great little anchorage. Currently we're watching dolphins feed and we have had another boat come down this tributary yet.

Influencing, eating and trying beers is exhausting.

A bit choppy at times, but a great sail. First time we've seen 9.5 knots sustained. Exhausting 24 hours. 😴

Perfect sail. Besides a little lack of wind at first we were able to sail the rest and had some good down wave surfing as well. Dolphins on the bow and we even felt the air temp warm up in the middle of the night. Chasing summer!

A once in a lifetime experience. We've been to NYC before, but not like this. There's something special about sailing into New York just as our ancestors did and staring up at Lady Liberty. It makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. . I can picture them crammed on a boat from Europe, after what had to be a miserable trip, staring at Ellis Island wondering if they'd be allowed in. Then if they were, what next, where to begin to start a new life, how to survive and where to go! It's a much heavier decision than most will ever have to make. It reminded us of all the many people we've met in our travels who had to make similar choices and dangerous journeys. . We anchored directly in between Ellis and Liberty Island. The sunrise and sunset views startled you every time you'd forgotten where you were. We had no neighbors or other boats the three days we were there. It's an experience with a priceless cost that we won't soon forget. . We did decide to land our dinghy at one of the most expensive harbors with prime real estate which sits at the base of 1 World Trade Center. Thankfully the young lady only charged us $20 (a dollar per foot, per hour) so we could walk around and eat our favorite pizza outside of Italy. . With that, our fill of big cities quenched for a while, we sailed out to begin our trip to warmer temps.
