This was the last few days of our time in the Bahamas for the season. We decided to spend it enjoying nature again. We went to Sand Cay and explored the reefs and the sand bar. We put the drone up at Pelican Cay and enjoyed the beautiful beach. We had a blast relaxing at the awesome cruisers hang out (even though we were alone) on Tilloo. The Bahamas are incredible and we really hope we will be back again next season.
Spent 2 days enjoying the relaxing beach and sun. And you can be sure we visited the Thirsty Cuda!
We sailed into Hope Town after an awesome day on the water. Uneventful sail and we made it through the cut about 2 hours before high tide with no issues. We anchored in view of the beautiful Light House (we we later climbed to the top of). We really enjoyed walking around this beautiful little gem of a town.
We had an absolutely awesome time visiting Green Turtle Cay. We loved the museum. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, it was really interesting to learn about the islands history as well as the Loyalist and Pirate 🏴☠️ history. We had to stop and try the original Goombay Smash and the Blue Bee Bar. It was delish. Sundowners is also not to be missed. Nunjack Cay was so peaceful and we could have spent a few days there just taking in nature. We traveled up and in the estuaries just enjoying the natural beauty and quiet. There were SO many turtles. 🐢 We also made sure to enjoy the art walk and the coconut 🥥 cracking beach with the tiki swings. Everybody loves a tiki swing
Sailed from Harbour Island back through the Devils Backbone and up to Abaco. Did NOT love the parade of MV that almost pushed us into the reef without hailing they were coming in a never ending line through the Devils Backbone, but other than that a lovely uneventful crossing. The first stop off is in Lynyard Cay before we check out what the rest of Abaco has to offer 🙌🎉
We did the Eleuthera tour, it was short and sweet but we saw from Rock Sound to Governors Harbor then a quick trip to the Glass Window, through current Cut to Egg Island, Spanish Wells, and a final stop at Harbor Island (through the devils backbone 🏴☠️) before heading North to the Abacos! Highlights - Queen’s Bath near Glass Window on a day with huge waves, was pretty epic!! Egg Island Sand bar was a treat, not to miss, and then Harbor Island’s pink sand beaches are pretty incredible too, worth the stop! Not nearly enough time to see it all but we sure did see a lot!!
Just a quick stop over in Rock Sound while making our way up Eleuthera. Did not even leave the boat but it was a solid anchorage! Pretty and calm, couldn’t ask for more.
We used our code zero for the first time and it was amazing!! We saw speeds over 9.5 for quite a bit of our trip, which was very exciting. We really got some speed when we surfed down the waves and loved that the wind and waves were in our favor for a change ⛵️ We also hiked the hermitage hike up to Mount Alvernia which was really really beautiful. Definitely recommend!
We headed down to check out the infamous Cruiser’s Hang Out and were met with a week of never ending wind! We made the most of our hiking and provisioning and of course beach bar drinking, but it was definitely a soggy experience haha. We got a mooring ball off of Chat & Chill and the never ending boat slap made for unexpectedly sleepless nights unfortunately. We decided to spend the last nights we were there anchored in front of Coconut Club and it was actually WAY more enjoyable. We loved the cruisers net, the grocery store, and the straw market! What a great place to spend a little time in a fun community of people ⛵️
