Our first overnight was a success, took us 22 hours to make the trip from Cape May to Staten Island. Was a mostly smooth trip aside from the 33knot squall we ran into at about 11pm. Motorsailed the first half but once the wind clocked and was on our nose we had to just motor into it. Coming into New York City at sunrise was something special
Today was a long day going down the Delaware Bay. Didn’t really have the best weather so just rode it out along the way. Trying to work while cruising is do able most but today wasn’t one of them 😂 If it wasn’t a work day would have been an awesome sail 🤘🏼 Scout and Stella both got seasick for the first time so they had a good bonding session. Waiting out some weather before making the jump to Staten Island and NYC!🗽
We had the plan of making it to Chesapeake City but when you are going 8.5 knots through the canal you let it ride. We also were able to cross off another state off the list today so that makes like 40 or so together now.
It was a great (motor) sail today from Baltimore to Worton creek. Had 15+ knots on the beam the whole way, probably could have sailed but this girl is slow😂 Beautiful anchorage though a great quite spot to hide out from the wind for the night. On to Chesapeake City tomorrow morning🤘🏼
We made the quick jump over to Baltimore for the weekend and if you know me that means we are going to sporting events. A couple Orioles games on the docket for the weekend.
After an awesome time Solomon’s we made our way to Annapolis. I know we skipped some gems on the way but we will be back to the Chesapeake. Today’s cruise was awesome (if you don’t want to sail) we just set it on auto and away we went. Absolutely no wind at all. Stopped about half way and went for a dip. Grab a mooring ball right in front of a church/school. Annapolis is quite the town on the weekend!
If yesterday was a great sail in the Chesapeake well today was a motor on a glassy lake😂 saw a stingray and ran aground leaving Deltaville. Honestly didn’t think I’d have to pay so much attention here but god damn it’s shallow and shoaly
We made it the Chesapeake Bay and I have to say it’s all making sense why everyone said they love to cruise here. It is absolutely beautiful and our anchorage was awesome! Leaving Norfolk we got passed by two cargo ships and a warship. So needless to say seeing a big cargo ship running you down is wild😂 Hell of a sail as well once the wild picked up, we had everything on day one here. Also, didn’t know sea turtles were in the bay but I did see one and it was amazing!
This was an incredibly industrial area. The size of the naval ships is actually insane, we felt like an ant going by them. Here for a week for the Great Loop rendezvous and planning the Chesapeake. Stay tuned for more action😂
Short day just cruising up the canal towards Norfolk. Nothing really to interesting today.
This was a day that Plan A, B, C and D for anchorages didn’t workout so we just keep going. Ended up being a great day getting out of the marina bright and early! Sailed the second half of the day once it picked it up🤘🏼 Also this is Haley and I 41st state together so only 9 more to go!!!
Easter blessed us a perfect day of sailing on Haley’s birthday! We were able to for about 75% of this trip and it was awesome. The amount of crab pots we dodged today was absolutely insane 😂
Today was a great day cruise until we got out of the Aligator River Canal and onto the rivers itself. Blowing 30 knots and we quickly decided trying to continue was not the play. Tucked in here to ride out this wind. On to Manteo tomorrow morning 🤘🏼
Quick little trip from RE Mayo to Belhaven and it was a great cruise. Haley and I switched off from driving to being on meetings. Time for a couple days in Belhaven and then onto Manteo.
After the tip from Logan to stop at RE Mayo here we are! Actually had a nice morning sail after bashing into for a few minutes. Quick stop for a few meetings before continuing to either Belhaven or an anchorage for the night.
We were looking to make a jump from Beaufort to Ocracoke but the wind kicked up more than we planned on so we decided to duck in and find a hot tub😂 Ocracoke in the morning though!🤘🏼 Also I decided to start sailing when Haley was on a meeting and she wasn’t super pleased for that decision 😂
This was the longest day we have done and that was too long for us😂 Started out being 40 degrees and freezing and ended with some good wind. We covered all the bases today.
Windy as all hell and of course it’s blowing out of where we need to go. Not the best day but still enjoyable🤘🏼
State #4 on the trip so far and we had a great time on this cruise! Good vibes and good weather!
Beautiful early morning cruise and docked right in time for work to start. It’s the perfect amount of cold today.
Honestly one of the most beautiful cruises we have had. I have coined this trip the Amazon of South Carolina. Great vibes and got quite a bit of work done. Now for docktails with friends 🤘🏼
This was a long windy day most 25 to 30 knots the whole time. Also wildly shallow the whole way as well but never touched the ground.
Thought it was a great day to go for a day sail but our heavy girl needs quite a bit of wind to move so we kind of just bobbed around for a few hours 😂 no complaints though as it was beautiful. Then we ran aground so it’s all about balance today
Started our day with Scout throwing up a piece of stick 10 days later. An absolutely beautiful morning and day cruising to Charleston, which was beautiful to arrive by boat🤘🏼
Today was a needed day of beautiful cruising, good laughs, a jam session on Spotify and cigars. If I remember I’ll share the anchor track because we are doing figure 8s out here.
After the work day at Daufuskie we pulled anchor and headed for Beaufort where we will stay for the week. Was an awesome cruise, our furler for our head sail is acting up or we could have had an awesome sail.
After a nice week in Savannah for Scout to heal up and stumbling into one of the largest St Patrick’s day festivals in the country we are on our way. Also Daufuskie was dafucking pretty!
After scout got hurt yesterday we decided to push all the way to Savannah to be near a big city just in case anything goes wrong. Scout relaxed all day and was able to eat a bit of wet food. It was a beautiful day for a cruise and Stella was making herself right at home😂 The Georgia tides almost got us coming through Hell Gate today as we draw 4ft and we saw 4.1, didn’t get a photo but we did of the 4.7.
Well today was a whole lot of terrible all wrapped up into one day. Scout choked on a stick playing fetch and we had to rush her to the animal hospital on St Simons island. We were reminded that there are good people out there when the park ranger gave us a ride and a random customer at the vet clinic brought us back. Scout is okay and almost back to herself 2 days later. Annnnnd the water pump broke one we got to our anchorage so Stella decided to help me😂
Up again bright and early to keep heading north. We have to find a nice spot to work for the day though and fort was an awesome spot!
After a couple days in Jekyll and anchor fix we were off early in the morning cruise. Scout and Stella were out and about this morning. And ended with an absolutely stunning sunset!!
Well us seeing horses quickly turned into dragging anchor and jamming the windless so bad we couldn’t reanchor😂 it’s not always sunshine and dolphins :)
Short day cruise to Cumberland Island and we are hoping to see a few wild horses. On the way we did almost run aground and see a bad as submarine getting some maintenance done. (Failed to get a photo) Also a very tired doggo from sprinting all over the island.
Well we thought we’d get some sailing in but we ended up with no wind just vibes🤘🏼
Best cruise so far! Beautiful day and arrived to a beautiful city!
Felt like it should have been snowing this morning 😂 Scout wanted some camera time this trip.
Had a beautiful day from Cocoa to New Smyrna. Had to break the sport kilt out for weather this nice 🤘🏼
Great cruise today from Vero beach to Cocoa.
Started the day ripping off our port hole window 🫠 but a diver found it and we went on our way!
