The sea is calling, but Summer Thompson isn't tracking right now. Come back later!
Mojo
Annapolis, MD
We’re Summer and That Guy! I’m just a DNA Sequencing Scientist who (temporarily) hung up my pipettes for an experience of a lifetime 🤘🏼 Spent 3 years fixing up S/V Mojo with That Guy Brian and we’re back in the Bahamas for our second season with our two kitties, Woofy 🐈⬛ and Sushi 🐈
Are you ready to start cruising, but having a hard time finding the perfect vessel to take you to the most amazing places?? Look no further, S/V Mojo is all polished up and ready to go back to the Bahamas this winter!! She’s a 2000 Beneteau 411 tricked out with over $60k in upgrades making living off grid easy peasy! Check out the listing here https://tinyurl.com/4ux7u5ws We’ll be at the boat show and the YC Awards if you want to get together and chat about it.
Mojo is officially hauled out for the season to be cleaned and get ready to sell! If you or someone you know is looking for a solid reliable boat for cruising, hit us up! I’d love for it to go to a fellow SeaPerson! We also have a bunch of boat stuff for sale that we’re not selling with the boat - generator, watermaker, dive compressor, dingy, 20hp outboard, electric outboard, paddle boards, sailrite sewing machine, etc.
What an amazing weekend anchored in Saint Michaels with some great friends. Hopped around town all day Saturday and had fun buddy boating home today. Escaped a rainstorm, dodged a huge sailing regatta, and had a rare smooth docking experience at our home port. What a wonderful way to end our last sailing trip. Now we haul it, clean it, and put it up for sale 😫 If you or someone you know is in the market for a boat that’s ready to head south this winter, hit us up! Mojo is a great boat, we’d love to see it go to someone who will love it the way we did ❤️
Wind speed and direction were… you guessed it… not as predicted by any model! Today had a bit of up and downs, some sailing, some motoring - beating right into it. Now it’s storming, hopefully the weather turns around so we can enjoy the last few days on Mojo
Back in Annapolis. Grabbed a mooring downtown for the night before heading out tomorrow to our final resting place for the summer.
Chesapeake was a bit more sporty than we could handle today. So we diverted course to the east side and hid up in a river to escape the nasty waves. Turns out there’s a dinghy dock here that drops you on the other side of Saint Michaels! Huzzah!
We were heading to Reedville, VA to grab some brunch, then the potent stench of the fish processing plant changed our minds. The seas were calm, wind was just enough to throw the jib out, and tomorrow’s weather was looking like garbage… so we altered course and decided to go directly to Solomons, MD today! A LONG day, but we’re sticking around here for a bit to chill, short haul to clean the boat, and enjoy ourselves for once.
First day back in the Chesapeake. Rough conditions, major current, beating into it for hours, both of us feeling a bit sea sick. With 3 hours remaining, our autopilot falls apart inside the pedestal. Sprocket fell off of the shaft. Leaving us to hand steer to Deltaville, VA so we can diagnose the issue. Hopefully that’s all the excitement we see the next few days as we hop north up the Chesapeake.
Easiest crossing ever. Calm seas, full moon, variable wind 3-7 kts most of the way. Wish we could have sailed more 🤷🏼♀️ But officially back. Looking forward to giving my Amazon cart some exercise 😂
A bit rolly with swells out of and into both channels, but overall not a bad motor sail. Saw the biggest pod of dolphins having fun on our bow. Got waked by a few giant sport fishers to welcome us back (one huge wake 100ft away while entering the channel… thanks dick bag) Looking forward to exploring a few spots we missed on our last two trips here.
