Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, FL, USA

May 25, 2025 - May 26, 2025

We had to stop in Miami. This is a really uncomfortable destination for cruisers. Getting onto land from the dinghy requires a higher degree in acrobatics. Getting to Customs and Border Protection office is a real pain. Anchorages were full of party boats and the Memorial Day weekend boat traffic was unbearable. We couldn’t get out of there soon enough. It was a sporty ride to Fort Lauderdale but the worst waves we’ve seen, by far, were getting through Government Cut. Aside from the sea waves and wind against the outgoing tide we had to deal HUGE boat wake in all directions. We dropped the hook in lake Sylvia for the night and made our way up the river early this morning to arrive at our dock at high tide. It’s nice to be back on our dock.
