Deckhand/Medic currently working on at yacht …… Currently on vacation with my family on our houseboat down under! Ig: emma_bray99
Ahoy Fantasia! Big thanks to our friends for inviting us aboard for a sail around the point of Great Keppel! Sailing > motoring, I have to say. What a treat to experience this awesome sailing racing catamaran. As a mostly motor gal, it’s always exciting to step aboard a wind-powered vessel—especially one like this. Hope to sail again soon!! ⛵️
After a few days of provisions, dropping off crew, picking up new crew, and lots of laundry- we are back out to GKI. Had the wind behind us and kept a steady 5.3 knots for most of the journey. Not bad for this old houseboat. Looking forward to this nice weather and clear conditions.
What an amazing, social, exciting, and eventful day aboard KII with friends and family. We started the day by making our way around the island. After a couple of windy weeks, we were looking forward to the first full day of calm winds and blue skies… and we got it! We went snorkeling and fishing in the morning, gathered back for family lunch in the arvo, and spent the rest of the day hanging out, reading, and swimming off the back of the boat before heading back around to the other side. My parents bought our family houseboat six months before I was born, in 1998! My three siblings and I have spent so much of our childhood (and much of our young adulthood) aboard. We’ve celebrated many events, including birthdays, holidays, and graduations, and it’s been wonderful to see our family’s “next” generation (my 20-month-old nephew) getting to share in the joy. Thanks to my family and our friends for making KII my home on the sea 🌊
One more day until vacation! I’m taking a full month off the boat to spend time with family—on another boat, of course. Over the past 10 months, we’ve traveled to some incredible places including: the mediterranean, the Caribbean, Panama, Costa Rica, the Galápagos, and most recently Mexico. It’s been full-on, exciting and also honestly….exhausting. I’m really looking forward to some downtime on my fams houseboat off the coast of Queensland, Australia. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the past few months! And of course…..Happy Pride Everyone!!!!
The scenery off the coast of Baja Mexico has been absolutely unmatched—golden sunsets, calm waters, and sea life greeting us at every anchorage. Soaking in my second-to-last week in the place “where the desert meets the sea”, before heading across the Pacific to spend time with family.
Our final leg north before we begin heading south again. The cliffs were absolutely stunning, and I’m looking forward to catching the sunrise tomorrow!
We left La Paz and spent a few days anchored off Isla San Francisco. It’s been a warm week—temperatures hit 35°C (around 94°F) on a couple of days. Thankfully, when we got back, we made the most of a rare afternoon off with a much-needed swim. We also celebrated my 26th birthday aboard!! 🎂 🎉 🎈
Crew dive day around Isla Espíritu Santo! We swam with tons of sea lions—one especially friendly one couldn’t get enough cuddles. Our second dive took us to Fang Ming, a Chinese cargo ship intentionally sunk in 1999 to create an artificial reef. An incredible wreck dive just off the island’s coast!
Back on the mainland after a smooth week-long crossing from the Galápagos to Mexico. Great weather, calm seas, and good company from whales and frigate birds along the way.
Just got back from about 16 days cruising around the Galápagos—and it was nonstop magic. Every day brought a new island, with early morning anchor pickups and plenty of night crossings that kept the deck busy. We hiked across otherworldly lava fields, snorkeled with sea lions, spotted lava lizards, and even swam alongside Galápagos penguins. One unforgettable night, over 70 sharks circled the boat—just casually hanging out like it was no big deal. We were lucky to have two amazing guides (thank you Paola and Yvonne!) who brought us to hidden gems and shared so many cool facts and stories along the way. Wild, busy, and absolutely incredible from start to finish.
Another X! Equator crossing can be checked off the bucket list. We had a great 3 day cruise south to the Galapagos. Lots of rain, birds, dolphins and pilot whales. Polywog no more!
Another overnight journey. 7 hour bridge watch. Stopped at an Catalina for the afternoon for a snorkel. Weather picked up and we decided to drive the tender back instead of putting it in the garage. Fun, salty time!
Another overnighter. 7 hour bridge watch. Incredible moon and stars but the photos just don't do it justice. Once we started heading due south, the weather improved a lot. Just a small breeze and soft rollers.
Overnight trip. Cruised slowly at 8-9k overnight to a new anchorage. Gps lost its way a couple of times. On bridge watch from 2200-0500.
Day off fun! Next time, next level up 🤩
