Midwest Nice
Chicago, IL
Selling ol’ Midwest Nice after two years before the mast working “reboatly” with my partner-in-crime, Meredith. Happy to help if you port in Chicago, and with questions on getting started cruising, working aboard, etc. 🤙🏻 https://www.catamaransite.com/catamarans-for-sale/fp-lipari-41-owners-version/
I blame her! Thirteen years Mer’s been getting me into trouble… and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Sitting in a tinyass apartment (probs watching @elayna.carausu and @riley) she goes, “we could do that.” And we did. For two years we sailed, snorkeled, antiqued (🙃), ate, wrenched, and relaxed our way from New York summers to Caribbean winters. We’ll miss the lifestyle dearly but family calls here around Indiana. And ol’ Midwest Nice is for sale to give her next owners as good a time as she gave Mer and me! https://www.catamaransite.com/catamarans-for-sale/fp-lipari-41-owners-version/
Hooo buddy 🥹 gettin’ all the feels now that the boats on the market and the cruising life comes to a close (this time around, anyway). Yeah, the experiences are insane… but (cliche warning) it’s sharing this life with good friends — new and old — I think I’ll miss the most.
Our final passage on Midwest Nice was one for the books — probably our best ever, with SOG up to 12kt and (mainly) perfect wind, though not without some fish-feeding and countercurrent (whoops). After two glorious months around Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas, we staged at Spanish and jumped off the bank at Walker’s … 48hrs later we made the Charleston jetties. Celebrating with friends tonight in the town where this all started two years ago almost exactly. Then, she goes on the market… they say the best two days of a boaters life are the day they buy the boat and the day they sell it — I’m doubtful 😉 If you or someone you know is interested, hit a brother up. More info coming soon. For the rest of you, fair winds and following seas ⛵️
Welcomed to Green Turtle by … five green turtles (not pictured). Wasted no time finding the watering hole ashore. Overall good trip from West End. Great Sale was lovely but forecast did me dirty and anchorage ended up rolly. Sailed for the first time in six (!) months when we left Great Sale, then fired up the iron ponies for a motor sail to get in before sundown.
Mark asked whether he could surf our wake. I asked his preferred speed. Last bit of the ICW done … now we wait for a window to cross to Los Bahamas.
Good ol’ #boatwoes got us stuck in St. Augustine another month(ish), so channeling our inner @elayna.carausu, @rileywhitebum, The Wynns, and the untold numbers of others who’ve gone before us in this brave life called cruising, to have some fun with it 🤙🏻 Meanwhile, Mer needs to calm her tits on the wicker furniture buying, and Imma have a fuggin’ PhD in pirates by the time we leave this GD place 🏴☠️ (love youuu St. Augustine)
TowBoatUS got Midwest Nice to her new slip as we wait for injector system test results. With the big boat laid up, gotta get out there with the lil’ boat 🤙🏻 …where I of course found we have what should just be a dirty fuel filter. And what I think is a Warham. Full day in my book 👌🏻
