Sailing the Bahamas over Christmas holidays. Great to be back after skipping last season. I don’t remember learning to sail. Sailing is my ultimate passion. Taking a season off from sailing this winter. Working on making bank to go back and sail again. I own my own rigging company Lister Marine. I service the SW Florida area. If you need anything or need someone to swap some stories over a beer, let me know.
Made it to the Dry Tortugas after a day where we were boarded by the Coast Guard (really nice guys!), snagged a lobster trap (why didn’t that fisherman drop it behind us?!) and made it 15 nm sailing before the wind dropped and we motorsailed.
After a few days in Key West we continued on westwards. Stoped at the south side of the Marquesas Keys to dive.
Marathon to Key West with the Spinnaker out. Another great day sailing. Great to be back in Key West.
Very light winds. Motored out to the reef and explored the old lighthouse. Sad to see that most of the Florida Reef lighthouses are no longer light. Continued on towards Key West, stopping at Marathon for the night.
Wind was steady for a few hours and then dropped off. Anchored off of Indian Key, and headed into town in search of rum.
Beautiful day to sail. We were becalmed at the beginning of the day, and wind picked up in the afternoon. Spinnaker, beating to windward, it was a full day.
The current gods were in our favor! Picked up a nice counter current close to shore. Overnight sail to Cape Florida. Buddy boating with friends from Stuart ⛵️
Lots of traffic falling off the bank. 5 cruise ships, 10 cargo ships and 1 gin palace. 🚢 Noelle’s first overnight and crossing! Even saw her first green flash! What a champ. 🏆 Stuck in the mud coming up river at low tide; that makes the trip complete. 😅
Noelle’s longest sail yet! Flew the spinnaker part of the way. Had a rain line come through that sucked all of our wind away. Motored the last hour.
