Sailing means freedom. The ultimate freedom is living on your boat and working in the industry. Love the livestyle ⛵️
Lot‘s of thunderstorms forecastet over the next days ⛈️⛈️⛈️ Might as well move to a more sheltered location. Still a lot of swell but much less winds 😎 Should it still hit us, the ROCNA will keep us safe ⚓️ The way was short but everybody knows: IF THERE IS MORE THEN ONE BOAT, IT‘S A RACE 🏁 Images: - loosing ground 😅 - also to this one 😅 - some swell already but still the most protected place around
Great crossing from Port Soller to Ibiza. Late arrival due to less wind then forecastet. What should have been 18-25kts with gusts in the 30ies all day long ended up to be a bit of a mix in force and direction. But we made it without burning dinosaurs 🦖 Upon arrival the Rocna bit right away as usual and made for a safe night ⚓️ Images: - rigg check before departure - let‘s go - becalmed
Making our way back to Soller. ⛵️ My friend who joined has to get back to landlife. Sailing at it‘s best. Great winds, calm seas. Sailed all configurations. Full sails, reefed down, reacher and a poled out genoa 💪 A nights stopover in an anchorage with no signal and stunning views. Great way to make amazing memories and improve his sailing skills after two weeks on board🤩 Images: - let‘s fly the big one - beautiful conditions - stunning views along the coastline
Beautiful sail back to Mallorca under reacher. 🥰 Spotted a boatless fender floating about. Therefore: Time for the regular MOB refresher A skill you should know by heart and hopefully never use. It comes in handy to pick up free fenders though 😇 Images: - Nom nom 🍭 - A tired friend 🥱 - Welcome back to Mallorca
Short hopp further north to position ourselfs for a crossing back to Mallorca. The weatherwindow is short so we had to come up north a bit first. Thought my friend the do‘s and dont‘s when anchoring without an anchor winch. ⚓️ Turnes out pulling up 40m of chain with an oversized anchor attached to it isn‘t that easy if you‘re not used to it 💪 Images: - Bay for the night
Let‘s go to Punta Prima ⛵️ Some amazing friends live in Punta Prima. What better day to visit them then my birthday. Had a great relaxed day in prestine waters followed by a tasty dinner and a couple of nice drinks 🤩 2 skills explained today: - how much concentration it costs to sail in very light wind conditions when hand steering - how quickly that can change when a thunderstorm comes along. reef 2 and genoa reefed significantly. some charterboats around us were fighting uncontrollable weatherhelm while we were cruising along 🤭 Images: - cruising along on light winds - beautiful waters - view from my friends appartement (find my boat) - peaceful birthday sunrise
A constant breeze just forward of the beam at 15-20kts in 1.5 of short waves made for a reasonably fast crossing. The boat felt safe as always regardless of how many waves bashed into her side drenching everything in the cockpit about 150 times. 🌊 Thanks to Njord (the amazing windpilot) one could hide as well as possible and let her do the work 🤩 Menorca awaited us with an amazing firework (thunderstorm at night with gusts well in the 30ies). To protect the seagrass the scope was on the smaller side then usual. Thanks Rocna for keeping us put while half the boats dragged across the bay. ⚓️ Bonus: After all the drenching in saltwater the boat got a nice rinse and dries in the morning sun 😎 It was nice to show my friend how to plan for a longer sail (his first time not seing land) and how to manage the weather conditions. Images: - heeling 😅
Pretty cool when the water plan takes off in the middle of the anchorage ⚓️ 🛫
