It was a guess, whether we could go west or not looking at the weather forecasts. 20 knots of wind gusts coming from the wrong direction combined with 1-1,5 meter waves. We reefed our mainsail and decided to give it a go. Destionation was either the bay on the east side of Spinalonga (Mirabello Bay) if the conditions were really bad or a small port at Paralia Milatou, approximately 20 miles from Elounda. Once we got out on the open sea, the sailing conditions were quite comfortable, our Aries windvane steering efficiently all the time. Opting for a more westerly route towards Dia, a small island off Heraklion, Crete, we relied mostly on sailing, only resorting to the engine for the final leg. I felt nauseous after two hours of sailing. Finn threw up again and decided to sit in his poo in the litter box. Cleaning it all up while hitting waves not a good idea… Hopefully, Finn adjusts to the sea soon. The boat was a total mess, with loose items tumbling about, and I abandoned the effort to tidy up. Fortunately, with our compact living space, order was swiftly restored once we anchored.
