We set off early from our anchorage. With about six knots of wind, we managed a speed of 2.5 knots on a broad reach and full sails. The sea was calm and easily navigable, but there was a chance we might arrive at the cala too late and find it already crowded with boats. Nelly was enjoying the sailing, and even Finn was relaxed under his cushion in the cockpit, playing with the ants that had been crawling around for a while. Don’t ask me how they got on board. As the wind died down, our speed dropped below 2 knots, so we started the engine. The view of the Mallorcan cliffs was breathtaking! WHAT A PARADISE! Clear water in every shade of blue, impressive cliffs with trees, and hundreds of fish beneath our boat. And... only one other boat in the bay. Ten minutes after anchoring, I enthusiastically dove into the water, surrounded by dozens of saddled seabream and swallowtail fish. The next day, our enthusiasm waned a bit when we encountered 30 knots of wind over our deck. Apparently, every evening a katabatic wind tumbles down from the mountain. There was also some swell, just enough to be annoying. Fortunately, the stunning surroundings, the beautiful snorkeling area, and the good holding ground made up for it. We even saw a stingray while snorkeling!
