After a few days of provisions, dropping off crew, picking up new crew, and lots of laundry- we are back out to GKI. Had the wind behind us and kept a steady 5.3 knots for most of the journey. Not bad for this old houseboat. Looking forward to this nice weather and clear conditions.
What an amazing, social, exciting, and eventful day aboard KII with friends and family. We started the day by making our way around the island. After a couple of windy weeks, we were looking forward to the first full day of calm winds and blue skies⌠and we got it! We went snorkeling and fishing in the morning, gathered back for family lunch in the arvo, and spent the rest of the day hanging out, reading, and swimming off the back of the boat before heading back around to the other side. My parents bought our family houseboat six months before I was born, in 1998! My three siblings and I have spent so much of our childhood (and much of our young adulthood) aboard. Weâve celebrated many events, including birthdays, holidays, and graduations, and itâs been wonderful to see our familyâs ânextâ generation (my 20-month-old nephew) getting to share in the joy. Thanks to my family and our friends for making KII my home on the sea đ
One more day until vacation! Iâm taking a full month off the boat to spend time with familyâon another boat, of course. Over the past 10 months, weâve traveled to some incredible places including: the mediterranean, the Caribbean, Panama, Costa Rica, the GalĂĄpagos, and most recently Mexico. Itâs been full-on, exciting and also honestlyâŚ.exhausting. Iâm really looking forward to some downtime on my fams houseboat off the coast of Queensland, Australia. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the past few months! And of courseâŚ..Happy Pride Everyone!!!!
The scenery off the coast of Baja Mexico has been absolutely unmatchedâgolden sunsets, calm waters, and sea life greeting us at every anchorage. Soaking in my second-to-last week in the place âwhere the desert meets the seaâ, before heading across the Pacific to spend time with family.
Our final leg north before we begin heading south again. The cliffs were absolutely stunning, and Iâm looking forward to catching the sunrise tomorrow!
We left La Paz and spent a few days anchored off Isla San Francisco. Itâs been a warm weekâtemperatures hit 35°C (around 94°F) on a couple of days. Thankfully, when we got back, we made the most of a rare afternoon off with a much-needed swim. We also celebrated my 26th birthday aboard!! đ đ đ
Crew dive day around Isla EspĂritu Santo! We swam with tons of sea lionsâone especially friendly one couldnât get enough cuddles. Our second dive took us to Fang Ming, a Chinese cargo ship intentionally sunk in 1999 to create an artificial reef. An incredible wreck dive just off the islandâs coast!
