Sailing means freedom. The ultimate freedom is living on your boat and working in the industry. Love the livestyle ⛵️
No hippies, anchorage was packed… Let‘s try again the following days
Thank you for the beautiful sunset 🥰
Beautiful and hot passage to Ibiza! Started with less wind then forecasted but a beautiful beam reach doing 5.5kts in company of dolphins towards the end 🐬 Images: - Good bye Calpe - New beautiful day at sea - Approaching the island - Busy anchorage…
Positioned myself for the crossing to Ibiza 🤗
Med forecast at it‘s finest. What should have been a plesant beam reach sail ended up as taking a beating all day long. Upwind into 1m swells at 2.5s Yes I timed them 😅 Didn‘t reach my goal of Calpe, the wind vered then died and the seastate stayed… So all anchored up in Benidorm in the middle of absolute Jetski, Bananaboat, Parasailing and Wakeboard madness. Can‘t wait for sunset 🤣 Photos - bye bye Alicante - hello Benidorm
Got reminded again how exceptionally well the lady sails from a beamreach to hard upwind. Sometimes consistent speeds of 5.7 kts in about 8 kts of breeze. Photos: - never miss the morning coffee - chilled crew - my visitor hiding from the baking sun - time for a cooldown swim
The temperatures are up. So are the spirits. And the reacher. And the whale blanket for some shade 😇 Slow but steady towards Torrevieja to get some PVC glue to fix the kayak 🤨
Finally left Almerimar towards the balearics after a 3 week stop for work⛵️ A beautiful downwind run with only 3 gybes all the way 😊 Calm at first and then a bit rougher in 25kts and 2.5m seas during the night. But fast we were! Missing the long and kind atlantic waves already 😇 Marked 1000nm sailed with the new dyneema rigg. Still some getting used to but I wouldn‘t go back to SS anymore! I‘d love to brag with a photo of the huge fish I caught. Unfortunately it had a devils mouth and managed to bite right trough my new line… 😤 Europe’s biggest salt water lagoon is on the way, definitely nothing to miss. Excited for tomorros excursion checking out the flamingos 🦩 Images: - sunset at sea - napping away - I could watch the windvane work all day - some visitors - anchored in the lagoon
After a slow and steady downwind run through the deep water anchorage we‘re back in Athens. We had a blast!
After unclogging the blackwater tank on the way the beer and food in the tavern tasted even better. Pro tip for the skipper who sailed the boat before me: instruct your guests not to dispose of tampons via the head of a boat 😤
Beautiful upwind sail to the next anchorage. Let‘s find some deers and peacocks. Fotos: - Feeling good 🤙 - Speed 💨💨💨 - Never forget the Reggae 🎶
Beautyful upwind sail in gusty conditions. 5-18kts of wind and TWD shifts of up 100°. Perfect conditions for teaching 👍 Fotos - the world at an angle - sunrise in Acaditsa bay - explaining trim - Vagionia bay - private pool if you tuck in tight
Calm morning and a great downwind sail 🤗⛵️ At anchor: Dinghy + SUP = almost wakeboarding 🤣🤭
Another week, another charter Let‘s have a good time!
After a great week we‘re back in Alimos. Let the celebration beginn 🎉
Sailing into the sunrise is always a special thing. Especially when showing the beauty of it to a novice charter crew. Just love to get them out there and show them the beauty we experience so often.
✅ great weather ✅ high spirits ✅ turquoise water ✅ beautiful spot
Find a nice bay, squeeze yourself into a little corner, call it your own little bay. Happy guests - happy skipper
New guests, new adventures. Even on charters: 2 boats ➡️ it‘s a race 40“ against 51“. Not fair but we made it regardless 💪 Sailtrim is king ☺️
Just dropped anchor in front of Almerimar. Tomorrow I‘ll tuck her in a berth for 3 weeks to leave for some awesome work in Greece. Soon to be back 💪
Absolutely no traffic so there was nothing to do besides superviseing Philippa (my tillor pilot). Boring! So I decided to tidy up the boat a bit. Doesn‘t take long, so bored again… Let‘s make some bread then! Here is how: Take 1 wineglass of water and 2 wineglasses of flour 🍷 (somewhere else they might call it a cup or something but we‘re a metric boat so hang in there), some dried yeast (not too much not too little), some salt and a bit of sugar (yeah some) Dissolve the yeast and sugar in the water Place everything in the dough machine (any bowl and a skippers hand 🥣✋) Play around with it while blasting your favourite song until you have a dough 🎶🎶🎶 Cover the bowl with a wet cloth for an hour (remove hand first) And then you‘d bake it… However, there is no oven on SV Heavenly Body 🧐 Let‘s get creative then. Put a bit of oil in a pot and fry the dough on both sides till brown. Then elevate the future bread in the pot (i use a little metal cup), put the lid on, smallest flame and wait. Voilà! Bread 😃 Now drop anchor, put some mozzarella, tomato and pesto on the still warm bread, pour yourself a cold one and call it a success 😋 🍞🍅🧀🍺
0-3 kts of wind today… But a beautiful day. And the new anchorage is the first one in many days wich looks like it‘s gonna be a smooth night 😴
Very light winds today combined with some swell. I tried everything to go to windward but when the SOG dropped below 2 kts I started the engine eventually…
So many milestones today! - safely passed the rest of orca territory - rounded Tarifa - rounded Gibraltar - therefore entered the med - mile number 800 this season done Absolutely stoked to be here even if the anchorage is rolly 😊😊😊 Fotos: - rounding Tarifa - Gibraltar - happy skipper - 800nm this season
Since I‘m not keen to come across an orca nibbleing on my rudder I followed the guidelines and stayed within the 20m depth line. Arrived safe and sound in what must be one of the most rolly anchorages I ever stayed. But there is nothing to choose from here and moving at night is not smart here. Photos: - beautiful cliffs west of Barbate - first glimpse of the african continent this year - some bees came to guide me in
Another beautiful short leg. Med, here I come!!! - what better midnight snack is there then the good old cup noodles (yes, they became pot noodles 🤣) - anchored next to the spanish aircraft carrier ➡️ no drone shots from here then 😅
I‘m about to lift anchor to leave for Cadiz. Some dolphins came by for a farewell 🐬😊
What started as a really fast and relaxing downwind sail with the company of pilot whales became a rollercoaster over night. Luckily there was no traffic so I napped during most of it 😴
A very nice sail south ☺️ Blister was up for about 30h and only came down half a mile before the anchorage. Beautiful arrival to Cascais in a clear full moon night 😇 Fotos: - sunset - sunrise - happy skipper - dolphins wondering how a windvane works - rising full moon approaching Cascais
Buddyboating with my friend Jani. As everybody knows, when there is more then 1 boat it‘s a race 😇
Very variable conditions. Had to pull all the sails to avoid using the engine…
First sea trial after hundrets of hours of winter refit. 3h of tests and adjustments and only a short list of flaws to sort out before the next tests💪 The new dyneema rig performs really well, even with some adjustments still to be done. 🥰 5-10° less heel compared to the old ss rigg. saved 22kg up top 🪢 Huge thanks to my dad for helping so many hours in the last 2 weeks 😊
