With so much misinformation floating around, and so many SeaPeople users being regular Bahamas 🇧🇸 boaters. We wanted to get out some real facts about the big changes made to foreign boating permits and fees. Get the full details, as well as info about the new frequent boater digital card (allowing multiple return visits without clearing) in the SeaPeople Blog. 💬 Let us know in the comments how you feel about the changes. Does it change whether or not you are going back this year? SeaPeople co-founder Logan Rowell has had long chats with the Bahamas Minister of Tourism in recent weeks. About the balance of covering expenses the government carriers due to boaters’ presence (ex: dealing with trash, much of which is packaging from foreign bought food and drinks) vs the positive economic impact of boaters’ presence in the Islands. All considering the known needs for better fisheries management and patrol. Nothing is ever permanent, but one thing is certain: your voice can create change. So let us know how you’re feeling.

We’re on it. Protecting the good name of SPAM for boaters while working hard to rid ourselves of these annoying spammers in our app. Today we begin launching tools we’ve been working hard on for the last few weeks. To detect, mute, and suspend these users who aren’t here for sharing miles, getting anchorage tips, getting together on a beach, or lending a hand. Please keep reporting and blocking users as we refine and tune these tools in the coming weeks. They won’t be gone overnight. We have the same challenges Instagram and WhatsApp face with spam, but with an added layer of complexity because we want to ensure boaters can freely communicate; for safety and for fun. Thanks everyone! We’re making moves and your reports and blocks help!
We want to make you a part of the conversation! Join us LIVE tomorrow with fellow user and absolute legend @veronicaskotnes as we learn more about this Arctic solo sailor. You’ll have your opportunity to ask live on Tuesday at 12noon EST (1700 London). Join us on Zoom These live SeaPeople user webinars will become podcasts and YouTube episodes, so if you miss the fun, stay tuned for the links on where to watch or listen later. You can also learn more about Veronica in a recent Waterwoman of the Week blog post or head over to her profile @veronicaskotnes and check out the incredible trips in her logbook.
